    Freelander 2 Towing Electrics.....

Is there a socket in the boot like the Freelander 1?? Have just bought a Witter towing kit, but dont fancy scotch locks or cutting into the wiring harness on a three month old vehicle.... If so a part number would be most helpful..... Thanks, Steve

help with my new landrover tyres

30 / 31PSI is about right for these wheels. LR state 26 all round, but this seems to low. My 17's were 225/55 R17 - so it seems the tyres are actually the wrong size. Won't be much of a problem as the speedo's are 5 - 10% out - test with a Sat Nav to see. Regards, Steve

new brake pads - quick question

I'm not an motor engineer more an enthusiast, however I think they suggest using the bleed nipple as there is a chance that you could flip the master cylinder seal if you simply open the filler cap and wind back your clamp. Having written this I have been fitting brake pads myself since the...

    Horrendeous fuel leak.

Same thing happened to me last year. Borrowed my dads car whilst he was on holiday. Noticed a drip on the drive coming from the rear. Went to tighten up the plastic screw (no water sensor on this one) and it fell apart in my hands. Diesel would not stop leaking out until I had removed the...

    2004 Discovery 2 Cranking issues

My father has been having an intermittent problem when cranking his Discovery 2 TD5. Occasionally when the ignition key is turned the vehicle does not crank. I have checked the battery – has 800CCA, have tried both keyfobs / keys etc. The problem will suddenly start working after about 10...

Can someone please explain the mechanics of a VCU

It is a fluid filled coupling. When the front wheels begin to slip, the fluid becomes kind of solid and engages the rear wheels and thus 4WD - very basic analogy!! If your VCU is seized, then it needs to be replaced. Choose a good supplier and not second hand on ebay etc. Regards, Steve

    Off-road tyres

The larger sizes work ok on my Freelander without any alterations. It has even made my speedometer more accurate according to my SatNav. Regards, Steve

    Off-road tyres

Just search an online tyre retailer for 195/80 R15, 205/80 R15 or 215/75 R15 - plenty available from remoulds upto BFG and General. I'm using Colway A/T in 215/75 R15 - excellent in all conditions including 4" of snow where I am. Sadly they are now out of business, but are available on ebay and...

    Loud dronring/booming noise at rear.

Sounds very much like a rear wheel bearing. It's quite hard to tell, however I got my local LR dealer to diagnose (for free) then had the bearings changed by a mechanic friend. Regards, Steve

    1st time fill up!!

Same thing happens when I simply fill and stop at first click when froth enters filler neck. I am not a doofus!

    1st time fill up!!

I often brim the tank when filling my dads TD5. I wait for the bubbles to subside and fill until i see fuel in the filler neck. Normally get about £95.00 in from low fuel lights first illumination. I agree that the guage is not that accurate - I can cover 100 miles before it even moves off the...

    freelander es 1.8 02

The Lucas plip (3txc & 3txa from memory) can be programmed to any vehicle. I know people in the UK who can code them and they sell the plips on eBay for a few pounds. Try the resync procedure first. You can also buy matched plips and receiver on eBay and simply plug in without the need to see...

    Just Ordered New Freelander2.

How long did it take from order to delivery?? I placed and order for a F2 GS for my wife on 1/10/2009. I have been told that it wont be ready until January. Only option is a 'winter climate pack' with heated front screen. Regards, Steve
