Chipping the diesel doesn't affect the reading as the chip alters the feedback loop, not the output from the ECU, so the ECU knows exactly how much fuel it is putting in. I find my trip computer accurate, I get between 21-24 mpg from mixed driving. Think of all the Clubcard points!
