    air suspension fault!!!!

You're thinking of a Classic RR, those that had air suspension had a switch under the passenger seat that inhibited movements.

No, that would be asking for trouble.

Viscous fan removal. How is it done?

When removing my fan the other day I got a 18" long flat bar, about 1" wide and 1/8" thick, it already had a hole in the end, and i managed to remove one of the bolts holding the water pump pulley onto the water pump shaft, then as I rotated the pulley the bar jammed against the crankshaft...

how hot does your 2.5 run?newbie owner

Mine was always at 12 o'c until last weekend when the top hose burst, then it took a trip into the red! After replacing the top hose it now sits below 12 o'c which i know isn't right, so I suspect the thermostat or water pump is playing up and will replace both this weekend.

    22.5 mpg from my DHSE

Assuming your calculations are correct, then 22.5mpg is alright for the average P38 diesel auto, I'd be a bit disappointed that the trip computer was so far out though. My diesel has been idling a bit rough lately, and whilst I wasn't trying to solve that problem by putting some Redex in the...

air springs done & chipped dse

Thats' not a bad price for not having to spend an afternoon soaked through under your car. Don't think you have anything to be worried about chipping your car, it'll take it if its maintained as normal.

    Autobox oil change

I'd agree with Fett on it not being essential, in the situation where you have not problems with it. Disturbing it could be the start of problems... Having said that, you'll need about 7 litres to change, if you do have some left over you can dispose of it at you local recycling centre, or...

Nigling EAS Problem and exhaust story.

The diaphragm in the valve block takes care of inlet/exhausting shuttling, maybe that is shot? A new seal kit for the valve block is cheap to buy, as is the diaphragm, and whilst I don't hold out much hope, a rebuild may cure your problems.

    Trye pressure

    F: 28psi, R: 36psi, I find those best to avoid tramlining/wandering.

    ETC on ps8 2.5 dse ???

Pre-99 had the option of traction control on the rear wheels, post-99 had the option (may have been standard) of all 4-wheels traction control. I believe you are thinking along the correct lines, and I reckon if you swapped the ABS ECU over to one that has the traction control then it might...

Maximum Tyre Size on P38 on 18" rims

Your chances of getting an EAS fault and dropping to the bump stops are the same as everyone else with a P38: high! I don't mean to harangue you but if you crusing on the motorway and it drops you'd be ****ed, and the traffic police would have a field day with you! I suppose you could try...

    P38 Diagnostics, (competant..) DIY?

Whoa there, plenty to look at before that! Have you checked the vacuum tube from the manifold to the MAP sensor (on the fuel filter) is attached/not split/not blocked? If that isn't working correctly the ECU limits fuel delivery which means no top end power which hurts towing.

    Analogue to Freeview

I wonder that if you are over 70 years old you would get that free as part of the digital switchover?

    P38 Diagnostics, (competant..) DIY?

What year is your DSE, any other problems with it apart from power, what have you checked so far? In my opinion problems on this engine are more solved by skinned knockles than tapping keys.

    Analogue to Freeview

Blimey, whoever gave you that advice was not very helpful, nor very knowledgable either. Its the same process as going from analogue to digital on your home TV, you can't just chip an old TV to receive digital, you need all the processors to convert the digital signal that comes with a new TV...
