Freelander 1 Does it matter too much about specs??

Know the history is more important than mileage, if Mrs jones has been back and forth tescos all her life that freelander is going to be in better mechanical condition than one with half it's mileage kept on a farm with four teenage boys driving it. Take someone with you to look at the...

    WHEEL PART NUMBER

I can see what the difference is now, the earlier 6 spoke wheels had holes in between the stud holes and the later ones had a number 12 mark in between two stud holes.

    TD4 Oil Spec

Fully synthetic is the one, I did think about using a long life C3 oil, it's better for cats and egr valves as it has a lower ash content but not to sure if BMW recommend it for a td4.

Why can freelander drive well in snow/ice?

what sold it for me when looking to buy a 4x4 was a mate that had all k7nds of 4x4s and he said the best one off road was a freelander, with it's independent suspension on all wheels, traction control and clever 4x4 system I'm inclined to agree with him, utube is the proof in the pudding.

freelander td4 engine change becuase of blue smoke

Try a compression test , white smoke is unburnt fuel that could be lack of compression, hence why you are getting blue smoke to, if you are just getting blue smoke on start up only then that will be valve stem oil seals

freelander td4 engine change becuase of blue smoke
