You can fit anything in a Series III (as long as it isn't physically too big) but I think you will be on your own, and will have a rubbish vehicle at the end. Apart from anything else a Ser III will weigh a lot more than a Sierra, and needs different characteristics.

I agree with Fenby, they are the same size and will fit. Whether it is a good idea is a different matter. If your springs are old, the correct new springs will probably give a better ride.

I usably don't like coincidences, but it looks like there could be two problems here, lack of clutch and something broken in the drive train. Is he sure it is oil leaking and not clutch fluid? Has he checked the level in the master cylinder? As regards a contaminated clutch, I would be surprised...

I think they are all illegal because of the Land Rover bit on the end, it should be a national identifier only. It took a change in the law to allow a Welsh flag.

The clutch is the Achilles Heel on all manual Freelanders. Do you slip the clutch while backing in with your foot on the gas? Have you tried letting the clutch up gently but fully without touching the accelerator and letting the anti-stall do it's work?

I've driven them quite a lot through deep water, deeper than the book says, without problems. Never stopped and let the seat box fill with water though. The doors still leak.

Yep, the MGB 1800 was a B Series. Don't know about gearboxes though, it sounds very unlikely that they would just bolt on without some sort of adaptor plate. I've heard of an MGB engine in a LR (Series One I think) bit no idea how they did it.
