is to much waxoyl a bad thing

Can't have too much when trying to sell a Landy, see previous post.. Hard to give a chassis the hammer test when hitting the chassis with a hammer results in hammer making no noise and sticking to said chassis! :frusty: (Green Meanie now has all waxoyl removed, all holes sorted. Lesson...

is to much waxoyl a bad thing

Even more of a pain when you find the waxoyl hides a ton of small holes, causing shedload of welding before MOT...

    Dremel/Rotary Tool Advice

I fought with a couple of jubilee clips that had their screws rusted into a solid mass for 20 minutes before I remembered my dremel. Seconds later I'd cut them off. Now the dremel is hung on a shelf in my workshop, not in a box where I forget about it.

What have you done to your Landie today.

Took ours shopping, no apparent leaks from new fuel tank. Maybe I did it right! Last night a friend of mine put her def.110 in a ditch trying to avoid a suicidal sheep.. Shes added some 'character' to it... :)

Right then. Passenger side: There's a large U channel that runs along the side of the vehicle from back to front. the first hole is 11 1/4 from the back, the second is 18 3/4 from the back. The holes are in the back of the U channel as looking at the side of the vehicle. The step has a third...

    110 rear folding steps on a 110

I'll have a look tomorrow. (Unless some nice young man will look instead, and save my poor old knackered knees? No? Thought not... :( )

    110 rear folding steps on a 110

Loook at rear cross-member. 6 holes where tow hitch fits. On my meanie the centre of the holes on left of the group is 28 1/2 inches from cross-member end. Distance from centre of holes on left group of three to r/hand mount is 6 inches, to l/hand mount is 15 1/2 inches, inset 3/4 inch from...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Yesterday: Fitted new fuel tank & sender. Bugger of a job on my own, but I did it. The fuel return pipe and sender fuel output pipe unions stayed united, they wouldn't come undone and broke off the end of the return pipe and sender. I used a length of fuel hose and clips to 'repair' and fix the...

Mystery Clip - on the floor under the steering column

If it comes off easily it's either absolutely vital or pointless.

What have you done to your Landie today.

Ordered new fuel tank, as sender locking ring assembly rusted away on old one... (On the other hand, the bolts came undone relatively easily!) Fitted new wheels/tyres. Cried at amount of welding needed on chassis...

Why did you buy a Defender

The lady of the house had always wanted one, but normal cars were always more sensible. Then we got three dogs, and a road car started to look untidy quickly! Servicing is another expense. Modern road cars are expensive to keep properly serviced. There's pretty much nothing service and general...

Differential / Axle question - blanking plugs? (pic)

That's a relief, James, thanks. It's just unusual to see something shiney underneath the landy :)

Differential / Axle question - blanking plugs? (pic)

While looking underneath today (do all defender owners develop the habit of looking underneath before going anywhere or if it hasn't been used for a few hours?) I noticed something strange on the rear differential/axle. There appears to be a metal shaft visible through a hole (A), but no...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Rear crossmember IS shot! I need a new one, and some chassis welding, before the MOT... The ones by Pressbrake look good, and the price is right, but it's a 4+ hour journey there, and then 4+ back again. I don't know anyone in the East Yorkshire area that does welding :( (Well, not...

Having bought a new set of rims/tyres all round, I have these for sale. Pictures are on eBay, but will I will p/m the full resolution originals if you ask. This is the blurb I have put on eBay... The auction has no reserve, and has a start of £50.00 4x Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tyres with steel...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Made the mistake of checking the slight weep around the sender on the fuel tank - the whole bloody thing is loose! Luckily there's only a couple of gallons in, and I can sort it at the weekend. One well fooked crossmember: Interior (still need to add some finishing touches:alloy capping...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Ordered new wheels/tyres, as the old wheels are really grotty and the missus is fed up with the turning circle of 265/75s. Finished boarding out rear load-bed area, with fitted rubber matting and tie-downs and a bulkhead & grille to stop the dogs sitting on the rear seats and passengers when...

Cheap DIY Oil pump for oil servicing

 How would you go about cleaning ths out if you used it for gearbox/transfer-box oils? I'm guessing the oils don't like to be mixed, ep80/90 & ATF?

What have you done to your Landie today.

Today the Green Meanie got its first steam clean in - oh, I don't know, probably first one ever! I never imagined so much **** could live under a vehicle! It took the guy almost two hours to remove the crap and old weatherproofing from the underbody and engine bay. It uncovered some hidden...
