In need of some standard wheel nuts please!

You're welcome! If anyone else needs any, get in touch. The reason I had a whole pack (I think) is that I needed some new locking nuts, and I had to buy the whole set.

In need of some standard wheel nuts please!

I have a bag of 18 nuts (suspect I used a couple from the pack) bought for my S-reg and never used. Part no 18 STC7987. Will be in Durham next Saturday and could leave them with a friend for you to pick up. Make me a reasonable offer (pm me) if that's of any use. They are brand new but, as said...

    EGR kit fitted

I doubt if anyone on here has. Since some dealers are known to fit them, you can argue they are a standard fitting I suppose. Plus they don't affect the performance (unless there's something wrong with the valve, which there usually is). If you just fit the blanking plate it's invisible anyway...

    Advice please

Plus, if you really want to see what it's capable of, book a half day Land Rover experience (a keen dealer will probably give you one free to clinch a sale - failing that insist on them throwing one in for free after you've bought one!). They are surprisingly awsome off-road, considering they...

    New TFL Emmision Charge!?

Sorry. I stand corrected. Biodiesel may help you with emissions for the MoT though.

    Advice please

Very happy so far with my 07 Manual GS. Most people prefer the HSE and say it will keep its value better (but they cost more in the first place). Earlier basic models are a bit spartan (eg no cruise control) but recent models have better spec. Manuals are better for fuel economy, but some have...

    Running on Bio

Keep an eye on your fuel filter as bio cleans the crud out of your tank. Less of a problem nowadays with plastic tanks but still worth checking - do an early filter change, open the old one up and have a look.

Traction control 9or lack of it)

Or how you assume your Land Rover specialist will use Genuine Parts and not some cheap crap from "my supplier". Oh and those tyres - not remoulds unless LR were fitting remoulds to their new cars back then! Probably Goodyear Wranglers, I suspect (this was a while ago, when Freelanders...

    New TFL Emmision Charge!?

Not as such, I think. But if the HG is causing polution in the exhaust it might I suppose. Bear in mind also that the diesel MoT requires the engine to be run at high revs for the test. I don't think I'd want to do that with a dodgy gasket. And the examiner might refuse to do that part of the...

Traction control 9or lack of it)

Only if you drive your F1 off road. No idea what the mechanical cause was - I assumed it was something to do with the variable 4WD cutting in and out - but my tyre man had never seen anything like it. All I had noticed was that the tyres were getting really noisy. Switching to the lower tyre...

    Disco 2 load area protector...

Sounds a bit posh to me. One of the big sand bags from Buildcentre slit down two of the corners fits a treat, and the slit side forms a double base, or folds out to protect the bumper when loading. Cheapskate, that's me.

Traction control 9or lack of it)

I thought that was what you thought, all hail to your knowledge :amen:, so I was just adding a bit of backup. Tyre wear, as you say, sounds like tracking or suspension. Years since I had a FR1 and this never happened to me. What I did get was flat spots on the rear tyres, caused by running them...

    New TFL Emmision Charge!?

It applies to commercials, as you stated, not cars. MIGHT be a problem with a Disco commercial. Depends on what it's registered as. If your mate has a problem passing the test one option is to run a couple of tanks of biodiesel through it. Apparently some taxi-drivers have found that this burns...

    EGR kit fitted

It probably makes no difference if the valve is working properly. However they do get stuck open (not surprising if you think of the operating conditions and length of time they've been working for) - if that has occurred then you will get a dramatic improvement.

Traction control 9or lack of it)

I'm not sure if this applies to YOUR Freelander, but on the FR2, TC will only cut in to stop wheelspin at above 2000rpm. Since the reason (need to build up torque before applying) would also apply to your car, I think that is probably your problem. This goes completely against all normal offroad...

To sell or not to to sell, that is the question

Mine suddenly got expensive when it got to ten years old. Mileage isn't particularly important, but there are a lot of things that can start to go wrong on a car of that age. Pipes start to go rusty, electrics get a bit tired. I just felt I couldn't rely on it 100% any more, so got an 07...

    Shocking!!!!

Shop around online - you'll get a better quote from a different company, and you'll probably find your own insurer gives you a far better quote online than the renewal they asked for. If they do, go back to them and ask them to match the online quote. Company I used to be with would always drop...

To buy a TD5 or not

They're a very nice car, but expensive when they go wrong. As stated above, the later ones are better. If it was me though, I'd consider a FL2 auto instead - a bit bigger than the old Freelander and lots more power. Much more economical than the TD5 and, I suspect, a bit more reliable.

Do you regret buying a Freelander?

Many years ago when I had more money than sense I bought a brand new P-reg TDi Disco. It was the worst, most unreliable car I've ever owned (and that includes old vans I've picked up for 50 quid). I finally threw it back at the dealer and got an S-reg Freelander on a 3-year contract. Never went...

SRS light on any ideas (freelander)

Could be that the Freelander one needs resetting, whereas the Disco one doesn't.
