Freelander 1 Bye Bye Freelander, hello Rangie

Yes I'm aware that the auto box on the diesel is not up to the job. Planning to do an oil and filter change on it soon so that I can get a handle on internal wear. I'm pretty sure the box has been replaced recently as it looks very clean and I can't believe that the car will have got to the...

L322 HDC Inactive message on starting

That figures, as they draw a fair bit of current when heating. Certainly also could explain why after a run, for the next 2-3 hours if you start the car the problem doesn't occur as I assume they are not needed.

L322 in limp mode, no fault codes

If the engine management light is on then there must be a stored code. It sounds like the mechanic's Snap On tool didn't read the car fully.

    2004 4.4 V8 Range - Am i nuts

Agreed. Having recently bought a 2005 L322 Range Rover I have become pretty familiar with the pricing and I'd say it's about 2K above what it's actually worth. Low mileage doesn't mean much on a car of that age, stuff will still need replacing irrespective of it being a 60K mile car or a 100K...

For Sale SOLD! Britpart Lynx Diagnostic tool for Freelander 1

Having sold the Freelander this is now surplus to requirements. It is complete, running the latest software, fully working and in excellent condition. It is currently unlocked for the Freelander 1 but additional unlock codes can be purchased from Britpart or affiliated sellers. For the sake...

    L322 diagnostics

I have the iCarsoft LRII which is the newer and slightly uprated version of the i930. It works pretty well with the L322 and 'talks' to most of the ECUs however it is limited in what it can do with regards to monitoring and setting things up so I ended up buying the IID Tool which is a lot more...

Everyone with a freelander 1 2004 onwards needs to check brake lights

I have a Lotus which had a very similar problem. Whole bunch of cables were affected and caused a number of weird electrical issues.

    L322 sat nav disc update

Only thing to be a bit careful of is some 'copied' discs are done on standard write once discs which have that slightly purple look on the surface rather than silver as on commercially produced discs. This makes them somewhat less reflective and some disc readers struggle to read them at all or...

    L322 Auto Trans failure program

First thing to do would be to run a diagnostic and read the code. Could be an internal gearbox fault or an external issue caused by something else such as the transfer box. Without getting the code you're totally in the dark.

    L322 starting Issues

Worth putting a diagnostic on the car and pulling the code. Even though the light has gone out, the fault code will still be logged.

Freelander 1 Rear speakers not working, could it be the amplifier?

I would also check the connectors to the amp as well first as its under the passenger seat and maybe a connector has become dislodged by seat movement or wayward feet.

Freelander 1 Bye Bye Freelander, hello Rangie

Thanks Hippo. I have bought the iiD Tool which is the recommended one for the L322. I did think about paying to have the L322 added to my Lynx Diagnostic tool which I used on the Freelander but it turns out it's a bit limited in functionality on the Range Rover compared to the iiD Tool so I...

So new a member I haven't got the car yet!!

Welcome. Plenty of cars around to choose from. Not sure about the fuel consumption but I heard that for off-roading, the auto is better as you don't rag the clutch like you would in a manual.

Freelander 1 Bye Bye Freelander, hello Rangie

Luckily mine is a 2005 so just pre dates the EPB. At the end of the day I understand your point but the Range Rover is a far more complex vehicle than the Freelander so I would expect it to have the potential to need a little more TLC to keep it in tip top shape..

L322 HDC Inactive message on starting

Ok so after doing some testing over the last 2-3 days it seems that the headlight washers and/or wipers are not drawing current when not being used. Battery is fine generally but the voltage does drop to around 12.1 volts if left for 24 hours and much the same if left for 48 hours which to me...

    L322 Swirl Flaps

Oh that is interesting. So Land Rover decided (sensibly) that they are not worth having unlike BMW. That explains why they are not such an issue on the Range Rover.

    Hello

Welcome. I've only just sold my Freelander petrol after 3 years of ownership and yes, they do take a bit of stick, but mine was generally very reliable too.

Freelander 1 Bye Bye Freelander, hello Rangie

Time will tell if I made a wise move I guess. At least I have a years warranty on the new car which gives me a little peace of mind for now.

Freelander 1 Bye Bye Freelander, hello Rangie

So after nearly 3 years of reliable service I bade farewell to our 2003 1.8 petrol Freelander. Somewhat sad as it was a good old bus but we needed something a bit bigger and more comfortable for long journeys. Replacement is a 2005 L322 Range Rover. I do hope it's not out of the frying pan...

L322 HDC Inactive message on starting

Thanks for all the tips. The headlight wipers seem to be properly parked and they do seem to work. I will try the idea on checking the current draw and then pulling the wiper fuses over the weekend as that should narrow it down a bit and report back.
