I have now fitted a new 643 battery which easily starts it first time. To change the size would have meant changing the battery holder, which had been modified for the 643.

I have found that warming the new oil up helps with filling. I had a 20 litre bucket of 80w/90 that I stood in front of an electric radiator for a few hours before filling using a syringe type fluid transfer gun. Warm oil is thinner which makes it flow a lot easier.

I tried typing the registration of a car that I know for sure was scrapped in 2017 into the government tax checker site. It returns the message "Vehicle details could not be found".

When I replaced one, I found that there was no need to even split it. After a few strikes on the edge with the chisel at 45 degrees, it expanded it enough to slide off. I used some aluminium rings, the hub nut box spanner and a steel plate over its end to knock the replacement on.
