    P38 2.5 DSE FIP Problem?

The reason I replaced the engine in my wife's P38 DSE as because the pump started leaking but when I ent to do the seal myself I found the main shaft that runs through the pump had sheared into three pieces (plus some shrapnel) and so the pump was scrap. The RR is an N reg and so fitting a...

    P38 2.5 DSE FIP Problem?

Yeah, they shouldn't really have a problem. The engine is also found in the Vauxhall Omega, and numerous BMW 2.5 diesel cars with it being a BMW engine (I've just changed the engine in my wife's P38 with one from a BMW E36 325tds). My main complaint about most garages now is that they no...

    help eas fault...

You can get the seal and liner kits on fleabay, just search Range Rover EAS or something like that. Doesn't look like to bad a job to do, I think I'll be doing it the wife's P38 in the not too distant future because it can sometimes be a bit sluggish coming up to the normal drive height from...

    P38 2.5 DSE FIP Problem?

Definately get it to a specialist, as others have said. Although, just because you take it to a specialist they may still not want to do the seal on the pump, in which case a Bosch diesel speciaist would be the next port of call to do the seal and to make sure the pump is set up. Definately...

    P38 2.5 DSE FIP Problem?

By the way, auto's can be towed, you just have to put them in neutral like any car but remember that it will weigh nearly 2 1/4 tonnes so it's not easy to tow them, I know, I've done it!

    P38 2.5 DSE FIP Problem?

Mine did the same thing in Jan, the FIP itself is made of three parts and the seal between the top two layers and the third layer (the main pump body) has a seal in it that eventually fails and spews fuel out. I was told by Land Ranger (Land Rover specialsts) that you couldn;t get the seals for...

P38 DSE, chipping and MPG figures.

Look, you don't want to answer, that's fine, who are you to decide for everyone else if they want to answer or not though??? I asked a simple question and did not expect anyone on here to come back and imediately leave an aggresive responce. I suggest that if you don't want to be viewed as...

P38 DSE, chipping and MPG figures.

Woah, easy mate, I was only asking a quick question! I'm sure their are hundreds of threads that have covered ground done before but the whole point of the forum is to encourage discussions and that won't happen if all people do is view old threads, it becomes nothing more than a reference site.

    P38 Diagnostic code reader.

Good evening, Is it a specific code reader/clearer that is needed for the P38 or does any of the standard one's available from tool suppliers/e-bay work? Cheers, Andy B.

    P38 2.5DSE - BMW 325TDS, engine swap?

Hi Nathan, sorry if this seems a bit daft but I don't intend on removing the pump at all as I do not have access to any timing gear to reset the pump timing if I were to remove it. Other than switching the very top part of the pump to the one from the Range Rover for the electronics the whole...

    P38 2.5DSE - BMW 325TDS, engine swap?

The inlet manifolds are both alloy but the BMW one is different so I'll be using the Rangie one. Cheers Seanmull! In terms of the vibration damper mcapinha, I presume you're talking about the little one at the front of the engine attached to the auxuilary drive belt tensioner? It looks to be...

    P38 2.5DSE - BMW 325TDS, engine swap?

Ok, so a little while since I first posted this but I have since bought a 1994 E36 325tds as when I changed the seals in my pump I also found that my injector pump shaft had shattered into 3 pieces so absolutely fubarred. So I'm changing the whole engine. I have a question though for anyone...

    P38 2.5DSE - BMW 325TDS, engine swap?

Hi Jonbill, Thanks for that. It seems like Boshe built the VP37 pump for numerous vehicles because having googled the pump it appears to have been used as a four cylinder variant by Audi/VW. Mine matches exactly what your pictures show so as it is just this seal that I intend to replace I'll...

    P38 2.5DSE - BMW 325TDS, engine swap?

No problems, thanks for your help Datatek. Jonbill, you've just put a smile on my face for the first time this weekend!!! That is exactly the problem I have and is exactly what I did! How much did the seal cost and did you have to give a pump/part number to the bosch specialist to get that...

    P38 2.5DSE - BMW 325TDS, engine swap?

I used the Google search and found a thread from here where you replied, Datatek, talking about swapping a 525 td engine into the P38. On it you mention as you did here about problems with the FIP. You say about swapping the electronics over from the top of the RR FIP onto the BMW FIP. Can...
