Max engine size for LR Freelander 1

I like the way that the production 220 coupe turbo with PG1 was rated at 174Ftlb out of the factory - that is a knats off the quoted constant max of the 'U' PG1 box. Because these (220T coupe) have been pushed way beyond the 174 Is also one of the reasons why I feel confident that my L series...

Freelander 1 handbrake light staying on.

Try unplugging the harness plug from the brake fluid reservoir - it is a simple on off circuit. If stuck on (probably is) then unplugging at the reservoir should not extinguish the light - note - This is presuming that it works on failsafe where the switch in the sensor extinguishes the light...

Freelander 1 L series Diesel stuck in cold start mode

Hi GG, Ref the CTS, it only uses a the -20c fail-safe if CTS is ker-nackered (but for injection timing only) and the timing is limited with the timing solenoid as it will end stop. In other words it can only go so far. If the timing is end stopped the amber engine warning can briefly illuminate...

Freelander 1 L series Diesel stuck in cold start mode

Just seen this one and I am shocked Grumpy. :( - an L series- with a problem ? Noooooooooooo.... It has been butchered by a PO is the only excuse. I would also agree 100% re fuel pump. Sounds like the closed loop feedback is not working correctly or the timing has been well botched. Also...

    04 Td4 case study (solved)

If it didn't, she probably had some battery operated 'appliance' on the floor under the go pedal.:p

Freelander 1 Return of the (Land) Rovers: Kilo-Hippo-Delta

If you 'delivered' it, you could partake of the exceedingly pleasant weather and extremely cold fridge - and a few nice tracks.... Winter is coming soon and it has dropped to 30 during the say - 26 at the moment and sat here with woolly jumper on. Promise I won't laugh at the shorts....

Freelander 1 Anyone investigated 'clicking' starter solenoid - design problem??

Ah, sorry, no worries - I understand - yes - if you need anything just let me know. Also check the earth connection for the engine bay fuse box containing the starter relay - basically, the earth connection from the starter relay. This is common(ed) with other earths as well in the engine bay...

Freelander 1 Anyone investigated 'clicking' starter solenoid - design problem??

Didnt send a PM note Andy ??? Please do not mess with Immo circuits etc - simply check the relay connections - and relay in the above diagram Also the appropriate fuse connections - we know the fuse is ok - what you need to do is check the connection are clean.. The fault will be simple. Please...

Freelander 1 Anyone investigated 'clicking' starter solenoid - design problem??

Dont need it andy - here is a diagram of the td4 starter circuit for the solenoid. The immo is not the issue - the click click is simply the current varying as the load is applied to the solenoid due to a bad connection. As the load is applied, the solenoid starts to engage, this pulls the...

Freelander 1 Anyone investigated 'clicking' starter solenoid - design problem??

Thanks Andy, that is clearer. It is not unusual for a battery to drop to even 9.5V (ish) during heavy load starts even with a high CCA battery. The immo feed comes from the CCU (body computer) to the starter relay - from there it passes to the starter solenoid. The solenoid would not click at...

Freelander 1 Anyone investigated 'clicking' starter solenoid - design problem??

Hi Andy, sorry mate but I am struggling following you.. I take it you are saying 10.5V ON CRANKING - if so this is ok - if off load, then the battery is captain cooked When you say - connect the lead from battery to solenoid - to which part do you refer ? Are you talking abou the large high...

Freelander 1 Anyone investigated 'clicking' starter solenoid - design problem??

I repeat, when you refer to 10.5v what are you referring to - battery on load or off load.

    04 Td4 case study (solved)

Is this a quiz :) - I mean - you put (SOLVED) in the title ? If not, I think you are confusing the radiator cooling fan (coolant circuit) for the internal blower. What model is it ? Have you checked the coolant level ? As your freeby doesn't have a manual choke, then the old problem of the...
