Which Land Rover to buy for £3K

You could get a nice comfy freelander for under £3k! And they dont need bits welding back on every time you go over a speed bump! :p

    Viezu engine tuning

I had an ECU remap on my old Vauxhall Astra, practically turned it into a brand new car, gave it some serious throttle response and increased speed, also got about an extra 10-15MPG. Well worth it, didnt seem to have any downsides at all. Will probably be getting it done on my freelander when I...

Do you regret buying a Freelander?

Yeah city driving its TERRIBLE but thankfully I mostly do motorway miles, I make the missus drive me around town to waste her petrol! :D Was still a bit of a shock to the system, I knew the MPG wouldnt be great, but after a few years of 50+ MPG... yeah... ouch... Did a recent trip around...

Do you regret buying a Freelander?

I love my freelander, I dont regret buying it but I do want a defender. My only complaint with it is fuel economy... getting a measly 25-30MPG out of it, compared to my last car which did about 55-60MPG! I begrudge having to fill up twice as often!

If youve got the paint code, Halfords should be able to mix some up for you. Big halfords stores have a paint mixer at the autoparts desk. Not sure how good they are though, never tried that service myself.

    VCU Life

Right stupid question time, what IS a VCU and how do you check whether its dying or not?

what can I get a constant 12v feed out of in the boot?

Yeah I've made that mistake before... first car was a ****ty citron AX. Being a silly boy I did what we all do and went a bit nuts on it. I put a dixie horn on it, now the badly translated cheap Chinese instructions said to use 1.5mm cable connected straight to the battery... personally I...

what can I get a constant 12v feed out of in the boot?

Brilliant, thanks! Although feck me, 107 steps to install it?! :jaw: Sod that, Ill bodge it myself without reading the instructions, what could possibly go wrong? ;)

what can I get a constant 12v feed out of in the boot?

Oh yeah good point about switched supply. Didn't think of that. Could run some wires from the fuse box but was hoping for something a bit closer, im a bit OCD about keeping the insides as tidy as possible! :D

what can I get a constant 12v feed out of in the boot?

Afternoon chaps. So I've just invested in a powered cool box/chiller to keep me sandwiches crisp on long journeys. It's bloody brilliant. My idea though is to install an extra cigarette lighter socket somewhere in the boot for when Ive got a car full of passengers and no room on the back...

    Radio Wiring issue

Yeah you'll need to find the permanent live feed rather than switched live feed. If it helps, on my pre-face lift freelander the permanent live is the purple wire!

2 Day exterior detail of freelander

This reminds me, I really need to get round to cleaning that horrible white gooey mess old spider webs/nests make in the door trims and seals... I keep delaying it because I'm horrifically arachnophobic. How much would you charge to come clean the spider mess out of my doors? :D the rest I can...

    UK based road trips

Im already packed, lets go! :D Im really liking the look of Wales now seeing as so many people have mentioned it, and Ive done a bit of research on it, Brecon Beacons looks like it might be good, and the Pembrokes. Infact Ive been thinking maybe a tour of all the national parks, make a week of...

    UK based road trips

Id be up for some of that! Thanks :) Just depends what I can do with a pretty much unmodified freelander. Obviously Im not expecting to climb mountains and cross swamps with it, but it should be more than capable of some dirt/gravel tracks through some interesting places.

    UK based road trips

Not sure what/where the ridgeway is, and my landys not really kitted out for it at the moment, though I have heard rumors that its possible to greenlane all the way from somewhere in Kent right down to Landsend which sounds fun. Id like to have a go at some green laning, but like I said Im not...

    UK based road trips

Aye only £6 probably costm ore in petrol to detour it. Plus the missus is TERRIFIED of going on big bridges over water (The Tamar bridge is always good for a laugh, watching her cling onto the grab handles for dear life), so the entertainment value alone makes it worth using the bridge! :p...
