    Smokey 200 tdi -White smoke.

Evening all, I'm normally a poster on the Range Rover forum on here but my father-in-law and I rebuilt his Series IIa with a 200 tdi (Discovery origin hence me posting in here as well as on the 200tdi forum) conversion (it was the cover feature on the Dec 2011 edition of Land Rover World)...

    Smokey 200 tdi -White smoke.

Evening all, I'm normally a poster on the Range Rover forum on here but my father-in-law and I rebuilt his Series IIa with a 200 tdi conversion (it was the cover feature on the Dec 2011 edition of Land Rover World) however, it has progresively gotten more and more smokey. Once first completed...

Crank Position Sensor (CKP) air gap?

You're quite right mate, if I had a lathe!

Crank Position Sensor (CKP) air gap?

Well, just to update people, pulled the engine out, stripped the flywheel off, replaced the one pickup pin that had been sheared off, fitted the new crank position sensor using the 0.060" measurement (checking each pin against the face of the sensor with the feeler guages to ensure they were all...

    Help - vehicle won't start!!

If you're getting fuel to the FIP but not beyond it then I would suggest the first port of call has got to be the stop solenoid. If that has failed then you won't get fuel beyond it up to the injectors.

    Exhausts

You shouldn't have any issues with the back boxes, so long as they aren't dangerous so are attached securely to the vehicle then you shouldn't have a problem. With regards to other peoples comments about cats, it has always been law that any vehicle from the 01st of June 1991 that was fitted...

Crank Position Sensor (CKP) air gap?

Cheers Wammers. I'm going to have a quick word with the local Land Ranger Services tomorrow and just see if they either have the tool or if they know the correct gap, failing that I will use the 0.060" gap. Cheers, Andy.

Crank Position Sensor (CKP) air gap?

Hi Wammers, cheers for your advice but I'm already aware of this. I need to reset the bracket as the sensor has come into contact with one of the pins on the flywheel, smashing the sensor apart and shearing the one pin that it hit. I have spare pins to replace the damaged one and a spare...

Crank Position Sensor (CKP) air gap?

Hi mate, Yeah, I'd seen that but that post relates to a petrol V8 whilst this is a BMW 2.5 diesel so I'm assuming there is a difference in the air gaps between the two engines as they are different sensors, can anyone confirm that? Cheers for trying though. Andy.

Crank Position Sensor (CKP) air gap?

Evening all, Does anyone know the correct air gap that the crank position sensor (CKP) should be set to on the BMW Diesel engine (mine is a 1996 P38 2.5 dse)? I need to fit a new one including mounting bracket so need to set the airgap, however, I don;t have the correct tool (LRT-12-122) for...

    Urgent help needed - p38

Well, nearly got the engine out and I noticed, having taken the starter motor out that one of the six pickup pins on the flywheel has sheared off, presumably having come into contact with the crankshaft positional sensor while driving. We turned the engine over by hand a few times and the...

My Finished Roof Lining & Pillars

I intend on doing the same to the wifes DSE due to a saggy head liner. I personally think they look great in suede, why they didn't come originally like that I don't know, they look much more up market! An excellent job!

    test drove Evouge today

Let's face it, how many new Range Rover or for that matter, Land Rover products actually go off road in their lifetime? It's not until they get much further down their life that owners start venturing although, admitedly, the Freelander 1 is a rare site on off road sites and that might be down...

    Urgent help needed - p38

I don't things are breaking up in the bell housing as there are no untoward noises with it running (although I'm not doing that right now for obvious reasons) there was just the original noise when it went wrong and then no other noises. I'm wondering if the flywheel/torque convertor have...

    Urgent help needed - p38

Well, I've just taken the original crank position sensor out and..... the end has been smashed off! NOT good! So, I think the engine will have to come back out to figure out what has caused it. BUGGER!

    diesel p38 injector pump?

By fitting, do you mean the small silver thing that is inline between you fuel filter and your FIP? If you do then that is a one way valve in order to ensure the pump doesn't drain back and leave you with air in the system. Andy.

what's going on with my rear wheel and camber angles

All respect to you mate, I don't think I'll moan so much about spanner rash having seen that!

    diesel p38 injector pump?

There is not one in the fuel injection pump (FIP) itself that I have come across. There is one on the electronic pump that is situated in the tank and then there is your actual fuel filter but once it reches the FIP it's filtered so there isn't one in it, unless someone wants to correct me?
