    New key problem

Hi all, today I picked up a new key for my FL1 from my local LR dealer, they of course checked my reg. and took a copy of my log book and driving licence for ordering purposes however although the new key is a perfect copy of the key itself it won't start the car, I'm assuming there is a problem...

ac orange switch light not illuminating

Hiya, reading this prompted me to reply-I'd assumed my air con needed re gassing as it doesn't get any colder than the normal cool setting on the fan but I haven't had the indicator illuminating at all :-/

    Cigarette lighter

Thanks guys, getting a photo may be difficult due to access, I'm off work on Friday so may have a bash at getting the console out, I'm a bit OCD where interior lights and electrical equipment is concerned-simply put it must ALL be working! Lol

    Cigarette lighter

Cheers, I've tried pushing the lighter out from behind after moving the heating controls to one side but it wouldn't shift :-/ Will try out your suggestion though.

Possible VCU problem - South Wales

Does the car have matched tyres?, if they are mismatched then get them changed ASAP-at least the rears anyway, read the numerous threads on VCUs and you'll see how important tyres are to preserving the VCU.

What have you done to your Freelander today

In last few days I've changed a rear lens (old one cracked) and treated the old girl to a new 'Freelander' badge on the rear door and today I should be receiving my roof rails (3door) purchased for £115 delivered, cheapest I've seen so far.

    Freelander Faults poll

So far the biggest issue with my Hippo is the remote central locking, I've tried replacing the sensor on top of the speedo, tried replacing the fob with a new one programmed to the car and tried the sequence of turning the key in the lock all to no avail :-( Glad I got a 3 door so far as no...

    juddering while reversing

Look on YouTube there's a video of someone fitting a blanking plate but for now I'd just unbolt the whole propshaft and remove but leave the prop/IRD flange in place, if it turns out that your VCU is shot you can replace it for around £250 with bearings and you'll still have 4wd.

    Spare wheel dilemma

Ermm ok let's work that out then..... As I do less than 3000 miles a year I'll just keep an eye on tread depths and if I get a puncture get the tyres sorted ASAP after. Thanks for helpful replies guys

    Spare wheel dilemma

Hi guys, soon after buying my Hippo I had all four road wheels re-booted but had the best of the old tyres kept as the spare for financial reasons, I'm now toying with the idea of replacing that with one to match the new set, but I can't help thinking if this is a waste of time and money as the...

    2.0TDa Estate - Serengeti

Hiya, yes I fitted it myself but to be honest this was done before I'd spotted the thread about refurbishing them yourself and didn't take any notice, if I remember I will crawl under and see if there are any obvious signs of what they did and post back-probably won't be today though.

    2.0TDa Estate - Serengeti

I'm a tad confused re' the 'braking' effect of a shot VCU when reversing, I recently fitted a recon VCU from Bell engineering and since then have noticed said braking effect (albeit not wheels locking but noticeable resistance) when reversing on full lock-according to someone from Bell who is on...
