Found a guy who is fabricating me a set of rock sliders and tree sliders and will cut out existing sills and weld in place. He is a landrover buff and a professional welder. However, the new sills etc will not be painted. He advised that I use red oxide and then paint over - not hammerite. What...

True, that was the plan but I have lifted the disco and the mrs can't get in without the current side steps so when they go she needs a step up :hysterically_laughi Plus handy for off-roading
