Its a head off job how low is the compression, its probably the valves but no.4 is the first piston to get damaged so its not looking good

Pour some water it and try and see where its leaking the most common place to leak is the othe side of the engine in which case it would be the water pump

im sure that fault code is related to oil in the wiring harness, check it out of you havent already if not why not just bag a used sensor?

The trouble is your freelander is on a w reg there are also early td4's on a w reg you need to give them the VIN/chassis number as this relates to the manufactured vehicle not the letter on the plate hope that helps

Im guessing this is a 1.8 petrol? The cam sensor and stepper motor dont stop it starting. unplug them and try it for yourself also its not difficult to test for fuel pressure thats bad edit: i have actually read your other posts, its fair to assume poor idle could be down to sensors actually...
