    V6 Thermostat

Sorry missed the replies. Basically I bled it following the heat exchanger leak and replacement. Fans come on at 105-106, briefly hits 107 then drops to below 105. When on the move it sits at about 99-101, which is a lot less than before. Not sure of the type of 'stat. Thanks for the...

    V6 Thermostat

Thanks Nodge It hits 108 at a stand still though (I've seen 110 briefly), usually when I park up. It then sits at around 106 with fans going like the clappers and doesn't drop, although I think there may be a problem with the sensor as the fans don't come on until 105? When sitting on the A14...

    V6 Thermostat

Had the thermostat replaced just over 12 months ago, it now seems it's failed again and stuck closed, top hose solid, bottom very cold and showing around 106-108 on the app - not good I suspect? Is it common for the these to fail in such a short period of time? Done around 7k miles since it...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Had the heat exchanger on the IRD replaced. I shall know sleep at night.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Had an error code saying the cam shaft sensor was faulty. Unplugged it and it was well gunged up. Cleaned off and replaced all good. After some considerable thought and advice, here and elsewhere, decided to get the IRD heat exchanger replaced. Really not worth the risk.

How easy is it to change? Does the IRD have to come off?

What have you done to your Freelander today

It appears that the IRD pipes have corroded for the heat exchanger, so can I by pass it safely? Or should I replace it with: http://www.shop4autoparts.net/Freelander/Gearbox/IRD-unit/IRD_COOLING_PLATE_V6_FREELANDER.html If so how easy/difficult to do please? Ta.

Broke it. Coolant leaking from somewhere, pooling on the floor near to o/s wheel. Plus the fans aren't coming on until 106c ish and keep on going until 110, but it never gets below 102. New thermostat last year and all seemed fine. Oh well good job I have an ultra reliable 1.8T ZT.

There's a T4 owner's list available on the 75/ZT OC, don't know whether they can/willing to provide a service for the Freelanders? Believe the cables are different? I'll ask and get back; nothing ventured nothing gained as they say. Unless other know different of course?

    Vibration V6

Had a very strange vibration and droning occur on my V6 last week at around 60-70, slowed down and it disappeared. Nothing odd when I applied the brakes and when I pulled over could see nothing untoward underneath so continued my journey and it was fine. Did the same route several times over...

Freelander 1 Freelanders are the best land rover because ....

On me 4th. Previous ones were diesels, auto, manual, auto which I found great if underpowered. This one's a V6 which is great if a little thirsty. When I go back to the west Mids I usually use it in preference to my MGZT 1.8T, even if I have to fill up to get back home. Not too big, or too...
