I run Dakars on my Disco without any major problems or worries. Apparantly they took half the lead from the local tyre fitters to get balanced though. Wet or dry weather grip is pretty good for such a coarse tread pattern but I have managed tolock them up a couple of times in the wet. Off...

Has yu checked the turbo since takin it swimmin??? When Short Fat Bloke did a similar trick on the plains, the water inrush killed his turbo bearings. Similar symptoms to yours, rattly, loss of oil pressure, smoke on start up, no performance. A week later it gave up completely, wheels...

I've had my P38 on Salisbury Plain with no problems or drama. I was amazed by its ability (although I did wimp out of some bits). The P38 does rely on its electronics though to keep moving, does yours have 4 wheel or 2 wheel TC??, I have heard stories about the earlier cars with 2 wheel TC...

As I have 4wd drive available again (only temporary I'm sure) i'll tag along if thats ok.

I've driven miles with the centre diff locked after blowing up rear diffs or propshaft donuts on a Disco. The last episode was coming home from the plains, in front wheel drive (rear prop in the boot) and also towing another Disco which died completely when we were out, about a 40 mile trip...
