I put the sender unit from my 2.5TD into the 200Tdi when I converted and it reads much higher at normal temperatures than the TD did. The higher reading looks normal for the 200Tdi.

I did this lots of times on my old 2.5TD 19J. 2nd gear, foot on brake and drop the clutch quickly. Or if you are rolling along leave it in gear and just jam on the brakes until you stall.

You might also want to get the oil cooler pipes extended. They will be a little short otherwise.

The gear teeth on the starter flywheel are a lot harder than the teeth on the starter motor. If the teeth on the starter are worn then replace it. It will only get worse.

When you do the clutch do the output shaft seal behind it. If that starts leaking oil after you've put it all together you'll be crying. It's dead easy and cheap when the engine is out.

I managed to undo all the Disco bellhousing nuts and bolts with a socket, UJ and 2 long extender bars. The 2 on top the the bellhousing are hardest to reach so it's best to get someone to guide the socket onto the nut from above with you under neath. Oh and Plus-gas rules in my garage :p

Yup the ariel views are way out of date. It used to have Transits in there but now hundreds of Defenders as far as the eye can see. Wonder when they will get sold off cheap. They will all be 300TDi LHD so could be some good bargains!

Change the gearbox oil. Once the oil gets old they get difficult to use. The LT77 takes ATF not gear oil.

Don't need to swap flywheel housings, just remove a couple of studs from the 200Tdi before you put it in.
