    P38 tow weight.

I think the auto DSE is better suited to towing than the manual, allows the engine to get into its powerband. My P38 is by far the best tow 4x4 I've ever driven.

    SOLD! Bye Bye Rangie...

Why would you think that a disco or defender would be any more economical to run than a RRC diesel:confused: Get yourself a 200tdi or 300tdi RRC, you already know your way around an RRC so you'll be able to spot a lemon a mile off. You won't regret it. I had a 200tdi 92 RRC, absolutely...

    Rear Diff, Viscous Coupling HELP

This is as clear as mud  Wammers, he may have a point, I just noticed the the drive input on the P38 is to the differential casing, not the planet carrier. I'm still trying to work out what difference that makes :)

    Rear Diff, Viscous Coupling HELP

Jeez, I just checked that section of RAVE, its completely different from the RRC. Thanks again for the education Wammers!:D:D Well that proves your point about the rear diff being unaffected by the VC.

    Rear Diff, Viscous Coupling HELP

Well theres the problem, I've been looking at the RRC section as thats where the pictures were.:o Looks like you're right and the P38 is very different to the RRC

    Rear Diff, Viscous Coupling HELP

Yep, I think the words match the picture, from RRC section of RAVE: The front and rear output shafts 10 and 11 are splined to the differential output pinions. The front output shaft 10 forms the outer member of the viscous coupling, while the inner member plates are splined to the rear...

    Rear Diff, Viscous Coupling HELP

Hey, I was reared on comics!!! But just for you I'll have a read and see if I interpret it as badly as you :p:p

    Rear Diff, Viscous Coupling HELP

Hmmm! I don't have the benefit of first hand experience here so I'm not going to flat contradict you;) Buuuuttt, If you look at the diagram of the VC in the RRC section of RAVE you will see that the rear output shaft is splined into the rear differential gear, NOT the diff planet carrier. It...

    Rear Diff, Viscous Coupling HELP

Wammers, I'm going to have a pop at you here:p I may be wrong, (unlikely:D, but its a while since I checked this out) but the last time I checked the VC, even though it's bolted on to the front of the transfer box, is actually simply limiting the slip between differential wheels in the centre...

Range Rover 2.5 Diesel contaminated Fuel - erratic idling

Try disconnecting the vacuum pump for the EGR. If that improves it then blank off the EGR inlet with a 5p coin.

    P38 tow weight.

Not sure where you got that. Rememeber the version of RAVE going round is for the american market, may have different legislation. The manufacturers towing weight information is stamped on a plate under the bonnet. It does not make any distinction for high range or low range or number of axles...

HELP!! P38 won't start after attempted theft

dont waste your time with an obd scanner. I can't check for petrol models now but in the diesel the BECM checks an EMS code before sending an 'ok to fire' signal to the diesel ecu. If the code is out of synch the engine will crank all day but never fire. In all likelyhood the petrol will have...

HELP!! P38 won't start after attempted theft

I think that only post 2000 are OBD compliant (they all have an OBD socket). And even then just for statutory stuff. I didn't know the pre 96's didn't have the exciter ring, but yes that's what I was on about. In that case the BECM shouldn't know you've been fiddling with its bits. The...

    Suspension problem

BTW Wammers, in the dark recesses of my mind I vaguely recall an element of anti-dive being touted as part of the RRC air suspension set up. I've never seen this mentioned for the P38. In fact i think I remember it being flatly ruled out or the P38. Have you ever heard of this? If it is...

When you say you swapped the electrics, how did you swap over the copper ring around the barrel?
