Feels like handbrake is on! FL1 1998 1.8

No the 'in gear' bit is not correct. The four wheels are connected together by differentials IRD and propshaft. The gearbox connects the engine to the whole lot. One wheel up passes all the torque through the rear diff then the VCU and ends with a stop as the front wheels are on the ground...

    Freelander 1 Injector Cap rotates

Does the engine run? As above, the disc by your finger is loose to turn. It acts as a spacer to allow clamp to pull tight. If they are wet when removed they may be stuck open or some other reason for overfuelling but let us know if it runs first and why removing them.

Back indicator - fuse or bulb ?

They have contacts on the elbow bit that break. Not sure why they are made with a contact rather than a continuous strip? Someone knows. JLR ?!?!?

Back indicator - fuse or bulb ?

Sounds like the bulb holder see my post above. Swap it for other side and if that solves it then simple and cheap to replace.

Back indicator - fuse or bulb ?

The holders go open circuit on the rear lamps. If a new bulb doesn't fix it and you feel adventurous, swap the bulb holder from the other side and then you will know without any test equipment.

    Freelander 1 Aftermarket CV axles

Usually change seal when you change driveshaft as the lip goes hard and extraction of the shaft can damage it. Cheap to do while shaft is out. Don't tell us they left a leaky seal fitted with a new shaft !!??

    Freelander 1 Aftermarket CV axles

Easy to damage ABS sensor cables when changing driveshaft. Looks suspiciously like they might have damaged it. Some folks don't unplug and stretch cable to take driveshaft out. Worth checking the plug and socket are good in the wheel arch. Sensor is not too bad to change yourself. Yours is an...

    renault/gates thermostat varieties

This may help. Several ways of doing this. I prefer the later with the hose size increase. Especially on an Automatic. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/fuel-burning-heater-still-on-with-temperature-normal-solved.395532/page-2

    Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket

I'd say that what you can see and think are valve cut outs are the shadows or actual valves standing open looking like they overlap the bright ring. The bright ring could be the top piston ring if these are the actual valves rather than cut outs. The inlet manifold can allow water to be...

There appears to be reflections but looks like your arrowed part of gasket to me. Is that looking up at head underside or block ??

    Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket

Looks like the shiny fire ring on the head gasket. Compression sounds OK if all similar.
