Whats the difference between a Military LT77 gear box and that from a Civvy vehicle. All I have found is that 1st & 2nd and geared lower in the military. I was told but can't find anything to back it up that due to the gearing a military 90 (2.5na) will do 40mph top. Now that don't seem right...

I'm pretty sure my mate got his through the series 2 club when they put in a job lot order to get them cheap. Makes a big difference in the morning, I don't know about the night time.

I've dropped my tank out from under neath and removed the fuel pump. It was a wee bit black but not too bad. I could still see through the filter on the base. Does anyone know the part numbers for the metal retaining ring for the pump and the metal support / cradle that goes under the 110 tank?

Reading various threads there seems to be a mixed opinion on ECU replacement. Can I take a another 110 (X reg) ecu and stick it into my 110 (W reg) to see if it runs without having to reprogram any of the ECU?

I'm following your posts closely hoping it throws up something that will help me. On the 110 defender where is the Main relay & fuel relay. I thought the main relay was behind the dash and fuel under seat. But it looks like main is under seat and fuel is at the fuses in front of gearstick...

Unless I'm mistaken but the td5 doesn't have the stop solenoid. When I got my series 2a previous owner had removed the plunger. That took a bit of head scratching.

Fuel pump is running which indicates main relay & fuel relay are operational. I will give it a go at cleaning up and the relay contacts. It's worth a go.

Haynes manual shows a fuse F37 for egr & maf. Where is it located? Is the fuel temp switch normally open or closed?

When you suck on the pipe to the vacuum advance, with the dizzy cap off you should see the mechanism move. I had a problem recently where my vacuum jammed meaning the timing was out at low revs.

Spot on Shifty. Checked the ecu earth - I gave it a clean and it was a bit better but not 100%. So I ran a cable from the negative to the earth and bingo. I'm guessing the bolts to secure the aluminium tub have some galvanic corrosion which won't be helping.

Whilst driving my temp gauge drops. As soon as there is no load on the engine the gauge rises to normal. I read that if the sender is faulty then readings are calculated off the fuel temp. So does this mean my gauge is faulty. Landy runs fine with no warning lights.

I thinking of fitting a overdrive into the LT95 gearbox, but I see there is a fitting kit you need. Snap rings, shims & thrust washers. Does anybody know who supplies this kit along with new internal bearings?
