If taking to a garage use one that is very good with the auto boxes. May cost a bit extra but then you'll get a proper diagnosis.

Earlier freelanders had a different front to rear ratio, that my have been achieved by using different rear diffs. If so I would be fitting the later diff.

The same sort of clunk? Diff mount tends to clunk just on acceleration or when you take your foot off the accelerator as the diff initially gets or looses power.
I imagine the fixing points will be the same to the body. Does the 2wd subframe have anything attached that is specific to being 2wd? If not I imagine it would fit.
What is the price difference?
If you can check the wiring diagram there should be a cable to tell the controller the door is closed, I'd check that gives the correct signal first. I would look at that before the window as the window relies on being able to detect if the door is open or not.
The manual lock is only to raise the window. Hold the unlock button on fob to lower.

Needle lift sensor monitors the operation of the injector. Could be wiring fault, check connections on injectors. Ideally test injector operation with osciloscope.
With starter disconnected from original neg and replaced with your 12v supply shouldn't affect anything else. The positive will be common to the cars original electrics.
I assume when you connect the jump leads the starter will spin and there is no other connection to the starter.
I understand for the 2 rollers, they rotate in different directions. That should mean there is no movement in the prop/vcu. A bit like if you spin one wheel the other side spins in the opposite direction and the prop doesnt move. I may be wrong!!
Looking at the gov website lists chassis and engine as major change, it then says that affect the way it drives. So not sure now if as you say like for like is ok.

Trade plates at your risk as the fine is high for misuse. Trade plates cost as well and could be as much as the tax. Given the original year would be a fixed price.
