What have you done to your Freelander today

The females in my family seem to like to take a hold luggage sized bag/case each with us when we're going away for just a couple of nights. What with my toolbox and junk in the boot I struggle to fit their stuff in each time. I myself always travel light! I feel your pain

Why are the disc brake clips always wrong?

Not much help to you I know, but this reminds me of every oil filter I've ever bought for the FL1 being supplied with a copper washer that does not fit the sump plug. I've got twelve of them now.

    Freelander 1 Preserving the scarce ! FL1

Yeah, I've been asked if I'd sell mine by a couple of eastern Europeans I know over the years to do exactly that. Apparently it's a "relatively" straight forward conversion.

What have you done to your Freelander today

The oil cooler went on mine a few years ago too. I don't think it's one of the coolers though as it really doesn't appear like there is any oil in the coolant. My slight worry is combustion stuff obviously. There is a dark residue in the bottom of the header and the coolant is definitely a bit...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Had a check of the drivers side strut mounts and main nut to see if they are the source of the annoying knock I have still present. all were tight as can be so I'm definitely suspecting the top mount/bearing. I also discovered some contamination in the coolant. I had a problem with some...

    Freelander 1 Preserving the scarce ! FL1

@GrumpyGel that Kea looks amazing. Sort of a cross between a Parrot and a Falcon. Can they be trained/kept such?

Freelander TD4 with 66k valuation please.

The tax bracket is the Achilles Heal I would say. Everything else sounds good. A quick Auto Trader search shows six examples with less than 70k miles on ranging from £2650 to £5000 although only two of those are TD4s, and I can't imagine many people spending £5k on an FL1 (yet)....;) I would...

    Which one next?

Me and Nodge did the rear on my FL1, not the same I know, but I managed to get a reasonable second hand one and had it shot blasted and professionally painted. Subframe was £100 from ebay and the blast and paint was £80. That might be an option for you if you can find a solid enough FL2 one...

Freelander 1 Sill Structure - For rustproofing

I'll scour the Tratter threads. Surely if anyone can recommend some wonder product for injecting into box sections for preventing corrosion it'll be them!

What have you done to your Freelander today

I can't complain. It served it's purpose and I only paid £200 for it and the scrappy said they'd give me that for it so with one abs sensor, some wiper blades and two second hand tyres it's been cheap motoring for the year. It was a great little car and drove really nicely. I'd have one again in...

Freelander 1 Sill Structure - For rustproofing

Noted! Great pics. I'm just wondering if it's worth Lanogaurding the externals and getting something a bit thicker to inject into the sills?

Yep, just from the flexi union, around the chasis box section.

    Crows...bear with me

We had a spate of this at my work car park a couple of years ago. Fortunately I was unscathed but loads of people had damage and one guy spent well over £100 on wipers. He took to putting carrier bags over the blades every day. I'm told one of the hunting lads came and dispatched the offenders.
