When it comes to fix its this is a basic job.
A prop shaft bolt removal tool and other basic spanners and socket set will be needed Prop bolt tool is a thin neck socket available on ebay/amazon. A kit of parts including a new drive flange can be had for about £30. Often damage to where the seal...
Land Rover missed the boat when they stopped the Challenger Project circa 1991. A more comfortable but still a utility vehicle for civilian and military that had its prototype's based on the Discovery one. 100" wheelbase and a LWB of 114". There was a lot more work to be done when project was...
Classic sign of front output seal fail I would say. Oil flung by the drive flange is blown back on to where it can be seen. This has been happening a fair old time, evidence by the clean strip on the casing.
Check transfer oil level straight away. May already be very low.
Why Land Rover put the filter there on TD5's right in the crud I can't think.
Some have fitted replacements in better positions. Don't know myself but could it be placed on the inside of the chassis leg?
Someone I knew had some made from some metal car ramps. Flipped over one drove into them and a length of chain over the bumper held in place. Still could be used as ramps.
Mongrel is a kind word for it. The Daihatsu engine was a popular conversion at one time as the vehicles they came from could be heard rusting on a quiet day.;) Good luck sorting it.

Pretty basic stuff, have a look at the You tube. Several video's on "how to" also showing the different kits available. Good one's by Britannica restorations ltd. As above do some free practice before making actual ones.
What year is your Landy?

A more powerful alternator that helps when you have heavy load items in use much of the time like winch doing a job like log hauling or playing in a winch challenge.
At other times in every day running say after starting up it just replaces the charge in the...
Looking pretty good in that pic, must have been a good underseal [plenty of rubbish ones about]
Truck may have been a sales demonstrator or something like that to account for date.
Has it been left outside some time? If so the ports on that engine/turbo have been open to atmosphere and done no good. You know Land Rovers and axles and gearbox may be usable, however value is as @Dippypud says in the chassis.
A couple of years ago I was driving my Ford Focus and was about 45 mins drive from home in the day when the battery warning light came on. I kept going thinking I would get back fine however after a couple more miles the electric power steering shut down [heavy like a series with a flat:D] I had...
