    sounds like the camshaft to me, bet the rear exhaust lug has worn off. new cam and timing chain kit . but take the inlet manifold off first and check condition of cam, but i lay a pound to a penny its the cam

    i think it might be a bit wider, but sure you could fettle with it to make it fit. i get where you are coming from, and why not . anything is worth a try, saw a p38 body, on a 72 classic chassis, with 91 running gear last year on ebay .

    LSE Fuel inertia shut off button?

    the switch is under the rear of the passenger front seat, to the right hand side. cant see why that would be the problem though, i had this problem 2 years ago, turned out to be rubbish/faulty spark plugs that had only done 800 miles. also check all the ignition fuses.
