well i know it might be obvious , but have you checked the fuses under the saets, and you could take the switches out and redo them, thats a long patience job on your own with no distractiions if you have not done it before. as it sound as though the ecu is fine

sounds like the stepper,, i clean them with mr muscle oven cleaner first, leave it to soak in for 10 minutes, then finish off with carb cleaner. also worth looking at the plugs and dizzy cap.
