    Brake Problems

Ignition on, Yellow ABS lamp on and exclamation warning lamp, after ABS pump stops message centre says low fluid and exclamation lamp stays on. Abs lamp goes off when driven as it should. Does the message centre not say handbrake on or something like that?

    Brake Problems

I'll check handbrake switch but the display definitely states brake fluid low. Time to trace wires back, I know where it enters the BECM maybe I can stop the warning here instead.

    Brake Problems

That's what I thought, but the sensor does not actually go inside the tank, it slides out sideways from the tank and is just a couple of wires and this glass encased reed switch. the hole it sits in is a dead end with no access to fluid. there is a vague picture of the sensor on Rave page 834...

    Brake Problems

When system was unpressurised i filled it to the brim, when pump has stopped it is still well above max mark. I'll order an accumulator The fluid sensor is a weird thing, it slides out of the reservoir and is it's own sealed dry chamber and has a sort of glass encapsulated reed switch...

    Brake Problems

Since I've had my P38 it has reported low brake fluid and the little red light is on I bridged the wires on the sensor but no change No faults reported in Nanocom ABS pump switch swapped, no change The low fluid is only reported when the ABS pump stops running, and I have noticed that the pump...

    Britpart....surprised

Well against all the advice on here I ordered a whole load of parts choosing the cheapest (Britpart etc) as I don't really intend to keep the P38 too long Full set of axle ball joints in Britpart boxes, joints are stamped Lemforder Axle oil seals are made by Corteco Track Rod end short one is...

Diesel injector - Yes the expensive one

Thanks Guys I remeasured the resistance when cold and it was showing a reading, resetting the code did not work still as obviously a problem as RPM's in Nano different between Needle lift sensor and Crank, then when it warmed up the reading became O. Remeasuring resistance it was open circuit...

Diesel injector - Yes the expensive one

Had fault light and no power a week or so back. fault wad needle lift sensor, cleared code then worked fine until today. Driving then no power and fault light, can't reset as it comes straight back. Rpm reading on lift sensor 0 So unplugged and measured resistance across pins and it's open...

    DSE, hunting at idle

Adjusted pump top today as last night from a cold start the idle was rough and didn't smooth up, looking through Nanocom the crank rpm and needle lift rpm were massively different fearing I'd busted the expensive injector it still move pump top suddenly hit the sweet spot idle 750 solid and the...

    DSE, hunting at idle

It shows approx 750, not read the figure off Nanocom just rev counter It has always had a stutter at low RPM say 1500rpm and high gear at light throttle and it's still there, never worked it out. Maybe the Dual mass fluctuations I read about I may experiment and move top if idle is not 750...

    Bleeding a diesel engine

Mine was a bitch to bleed. I would have said a good 15 mins of cranking Primed to FIP connection by powering lift pump. I eventually removed glow plugs and span it over with injectors loose until they leaked then tightened down. I had manifold off and it engine spins over better glow plugs...

    DSE, hunting at idle

Factory mark is the one I made before removal, always good to have a datum point Yes chain stretch retards I have advanced it from the factory mark using micrometer, I didn't make it totally clear when I wrote it, Sorry I broke fuel feed of filter just by knocking it lightly, very brittle but...

    Shocks

I've read s many threads now on good old shock absorbers, I know the general conclusion is go with the factory unless you like it firmer I had a shudder when hitting bumps with LHF wheel, I rulled out shocks as the car is on it's 3rd set all dealer supplied and fitted, this set only 15000 miles...

    DSE, hunting at idle

Just rebuilt my injector pump as it was starting to look a little damp. Used a genuine Bosch seal kit, I'm familiar with this pump VP37 done quite a few in my time. I did mark the relation of body of pump to EDC to realign properly all other seals went on smoothly. Timed up with micrometer...

Quick question, on a manual it has 2 spring plungers that centre the gearlever Ashcroft no longer supply them, and they were fairly pricey so does anyone know the thread and dimensions

    Air Con Error

Finally had chance to have a look, previous owner confirms that fuse box is original. There are 3 relays in the fuse box for the aircon, but relay 3 is not one of them it has relays 13, 14 & 18 which seem to be normal....thankfully And aircon is working all the time now

    1500rpm drone

On mine the exhaust heat shield next to gearbox. It's on studs held by round push on clips, I put some repair washers on with a couple of fibre washers and pressed the clips up tight.

    Air Con Error

OH! That's made my day, I'll have a chat with previous owner, luckily can track everything that has been done since day 1, all at massive expense at the same main dealer. I'm classed as owner 3, first 2 were husband then wife, they have a disco 4 now The relay is there and the map on bottom...
