    Restoring my 1966 S2a 109 diesel

Proper sized wheels found locally :-) It's clear to see the wheels on the LR are way too small....

    Restoring my 1966 S2a 109 diesel

Someone mentioned earlier the wheels where wrong on my Landy so i just checked it and indeed they are all wrong. The front has standard swb/88 rims (231601) and at the rear there are two different rims, non original Land Rover. Digging though the partslist i've found that i need either the...

    Restoring my 1966 S2a 109 diesel

Whats the best treatment for the chassis ? I've read about using Dinitrol for the inside areas, (seems better then Mike's waxoyl) but what to use for the outside ? I'm guessing expoxy primer and paint, any specific type/brand ?

    Restoring my 1966 S2a 109 diesel

That SS/Alloy corrosion is indeed what i've always heard... so what is the best option ? Plain galvanized ? Does anyone know of a shop who sells the complete nuts and bolt kit ?

    Restoring my 1966 S2a 109 diesel

Good tip on ebay, thanks. I've looked at suppliers like FamousFour, Paddock and LR Series for parts. Only LR had the original bulkhead outriggers, the rest has aftermarket Britpart/Bearmach. Is there a big difference between original and replication outriggers ? I want to install new/other...

    Restoring my 1966 S2a 109 diesel

Today I had some time to take out the floorpanels and seatbox to see whats underneath. Unfortunally the previous owners(s) have used alls sorts of nuts and bolts to put it together meaning I had to use metric and imperial tools in different sizes to get it all out. Some were rusted/rotted and...

    Restoring my 1966 S2a 109 diesel

Yes, possible, a lot could have happened in the past 52 years. I've applied for this Heritage Certificate to see how it was build and were it went to its first owner. For now i need to get it running and somewhat 'road-worthy' to get it approved/registered here in the Netherlands. After that i...

    Restoring my 1966 S2a 109 diesel

Could it be that the late s2a and the s3 have the same type front fenders/wings ? The hood hinges look like the early s2a model, not like the s3 has. What wonders me is that there is also this twin fuel tank changeover tap installed but it is not connected to anything. If this was indeed an MOD...

    Restoring my 1966 S2a 109 diesel

So its a standard civilian version but someone added the military items. Could that be done by the MOD or were they already ordered with these items by the MOD ?

Yes I think the original color was bronze green as seen here on the front fender and seatbox:

    Restoring my 1966 S2a 109 diesel

Ok so i need to look underneath to see if the gearbox crossmember unbolts or not and if the other things match up. Apart from being military or not, what are the big differences compared to civilian ? Is it better or not, cheaper or lesser wanted then civilian versions ? Is it better/more...

    Restoring my 1966 S2a 109 diesel

There is also a fuel selector valve for twin fuel tanks mounted inside in the footwell but it is not connected in the engine bay any way, there is just one fuel tank.

    Restoring my 1966 S2a 109 diesel

Ok, I thought all military were 24v but i'm no expert on that, It does have a heater which i believe was also standard on the millitary models. There's for sure i different green color under the current visible color, more like 'british racing green'. I'll see if i can make some pics about that...

    Restoring my 1966 S2a 109 diesel

Hi all, A few years ago i have bought a non-runner s2a 109 (1966) from a guy who had started a rebuild but lack of time caused him to sell it to me. It has a safari roof and although painted in military green it is a 12V version. I have checked the VIN (251xxxxC) and it says it was for the home...
