    MPG on LPG

i think i had an air leak into the plenum/trumpet trumpet/manifold joints that i have since repaired, idle slightly slower and lpg consumption at best around town 11.5mpg! is this too low for a 4.6? me thinks so.......although i do have a lovely sounding exhaust and my right foot often makes it...

Book symbol + flashing AC light

first things first, put the air-con to "low" and see if the air-con compressor clutch has engaged, it should be spinning! if its not tap it with the handle of a screw driver to see if it engages, if it does you may not have enough voltage at clutch/too large a gap at clutch? i had this problem...

    Water leak on throttle body

by pass it, its not really required here in the uk! i by-passed mine and think its a good thing as the air temp entering engine is cooler so you have a larger oxygen content! what did they do? was new parts fitted? its not really a hard thing to fix so i would think twice about using them...

    Need help with air conditioning.

couldnt say but, if one is running the other should be! check for power supply to the non runner when the good un is running! as far as the loom power supply to clutch goes i removed the shim on mine aswell, gap was bigger than .8mm!

    Need help with air conditioning.

the gap may have increased due to it slipping, down to a lack of voltage at coil in clutch assembly! there was a LR service buletin for this, they supplied an aditional loom to up the power at the clutch, i did it to mine and removed a shim too. no probs since!

    unusual overheat 4.6

i recon you should certainly replace the expansion cap! if it did just run low of coolant and wasnt noticed where did it run low to! replace the cap.

    4.6 oil pressure relief valve!

how do you remove the oil pressure relief valve cap? i got the clip out and was sort of hopping the spring would push the cap out! i tried to tap it round with a screw driver but its solid! do i hammer a screwdriver into it to remove it and then fit new?

    High Pressure In Air Con

i have done this loom modification, i got it from land rovers for just over £50. it solved the problem of the clutch not engaging when it should. the gap in the clutch mechanism was down to it slipping due to lack of voltage holding it tight enough, the slipping wears it causing the gap to...

    oil leaking from unknown box!!

im concerned that there is a oiley substance coming out of it!! im guessing its to draw off fumes from the tank as there no vent to atmosphere, i wonder it there filled with this stuff from new? im guessing its not too seious (apart from cost knowing LR) as it looks very easy to change! my...

    oil leaking from unknown box!!

at first i though it brake fliud, dripping from pasenger side front (left) mudflap! theres a brake pipe running along bulkhead that then goes down and forward, but fluid level not gone down, and felt too "oiley" for brake fluid! had a closer look with a tourch and the brake pipe is fine, the...

    heated throttle body

    heated throttle body

1996 4.6 V8 gems why is the throttle body heated? i would have thought it better to keap the incoming air as cool as poss! i heard of a mod to give more responsiveness by bypassing the throttle body, diverting the hot coolant and cool the inlet air temp a little! i tried this as i had plenum...

    EAS fault!

as i said its all ok now, just a glitch and i think it is due to a def hight sensor, o/s/f i recon, il swap them side to side and re-calibrate the suspension, see what happens!

    Possible new member seeking advice

i have a 96 4.6. they don't have timing belts so don't worry about that! they do sometimes suffer from slipped liners/cracked blocks and you may find your using water and making lots of condensation! drive them well and long b4 buying and check for water usage and keep an eye on the exhaust...
