    fitting new abs sensors

I just changed mine, only had one bush to change each side, there are tabs on the bush so when the sensor is pushed in it automatically sets the air gap. Never seen ones with 2 bushes either, seems pointless. Really though its a 15 minute job. Davie

    What's it worth....

There is one on Autotrader thats similar spec for 5500, but it's been on for ages. I thought about the L322 aswell but the gearbox problems and electronic problems have put me off. Seems like a well sorted P38 is something to keep hold of, I have never seen one in that shade of blue, looks good...

    Which springs?

Funny as mine and my mates don't roll like boats, actually roll less, they do sit a little high admitatly but perfectly square, the one you drove could not have been done right, maybe got the coils mixed up, but hey I prefer mine on the coils, the problem on this thread is the guy want's to do a...

    Which springs?

I converted mine and am happy I did it but as said get a kit designed for the job from the likes of Paddocks or Strutmaster, one of the thing's the new mot is going to look for is bodged jobs, getting the suspension wrong could be lethal, the guy's on here highlighted a case a while back where I...

Differences between rrc 300tdi and P38

Mine is on coils and I would do it again, I fitted them myself so know the difference in the ride. Just because someone fitted coils does not mean that the motor has a lack of maintenance, I've had mine 2 years and change the engine oil every 3K and all the other fluids once a year, regular wash...

    Sticking brake caliper

Yeah agreed not that difficult to refurb the calipers, seems like a lot of money wasted but only if you have the time and have somewhere to park the motor off of the road to do it. Davie

    P38 Diesel conversion

Ha ha doug that's a Pajero engine surely, would like to see the photo's of the hummer engine in the engine bay, also the electronic problems encountered, looks like an interesting project though, seen one on 4 x 4 forum where a guy fitted a nissan 4.2 to a classic. Davie

    Removing the viscous fan

Remove the panel in front of the rad, (the panel where the bonnet latch is) undo the rad top bolts and the top hose, this allows the rad to be tilted forward and give more room. Grip the back end of the fan shaft with mole grips and rotate until it stops, put the socket on the nut a give a sharp...

Range Rover P38 Sluggish / no power

I think this is a great thread, nobody being a tit and spitting the dummy out, good shared knowlege, that to me is what a forum should be about unlike some that was on here about a year ago who thought that being an arse and abusive was being smart (unless it's deserved of course) Davie :D

    p38 - L322

What is it about the gearboxes, has it been rectified with a recall, Disco 3 2.7 autoboxes are meant to be soft aswell. Davie

Range Rover P38 Sluggish / no power

All I know is that when my Omega got the MAF done it transformed the motor, I just got a new EGR on the Alfa, but for a little bit of smoke on start up and an engine managment light did not notice much difference in performance, I blanked the EGR on a Pajero I used to have and that did improve...

    p38 - L322

I have been thinking along this lines myself but the price of spares on th L322 is scary, have mulled over a Disco 3 (basic coil version), GC 3.0CRD, Sorento or just keep the P38 going but at 15 years old and 162K I just wonder how much longer it will last even though it has never let me down...

Range Rover P38 Sluggish / no power

I agree with Nathan that it could very well be the MAF, sounds just like an Omega I had years ago (same engine). as for the in tank pump, that will give you starting problems when down to 1/4 of a tank but not any performance problems unless its restricting the fuel flow some how. I changed my...

MOT Q's Battery strap - SRS Light Failure or?

In the drivers footwell behind the outboard cover there is a white multi plug, when I was tracing the wireing for another fault I traced it to this, when I cleaned it up and put it together my srs light went out, since I have not seen a wireing diagram I could have been lucky but that was a year...

    Diesel Glow Plugs

I am happy with the Delphi plugs but any good make is fine, think I got mine from Island 4 x 4 for about £40, test them before fitting, never know when one could have been dropped in transport, you never know one may be duff, thats what I do anyway. I treat glow plugs like spark plugs, change...
