Rear difflock was an option on Pajeros and Shoguns, no hard an fast rule as to which had them, and the rear LSD was only fitted to vehicles with what was called a "winter pack". Land rover have finally fitted rear lockers to D3 and 4'S in HSE spec.

The big yellow top fits fine in a D2, not sure on a D1, cannot remember how big the batt compartment was.

I would also make sure the vehicle battery and alternator / charging system are 100%.

Time for a new sensor, not expensive and its fitted into the bottom of the box oil cooler behind the rad. Can be accessed through the plastic trim panel under the drivers wheel arch by the anti roll bar. Part number UBI100030

Surely its worth trying to dry it out first, dry muddy water would "look like" corrosion on a PCB board which incidently is protected with the usual "varnish" over the PCB circuits. I would def make sure you get your old one back and try it.

D2 Turning circle can be easliy and significantly improved if you dont have 18" wheels.

Not the same pipe as on the V8. It's not TD5 related at all. It's used / connected on NAS spec vehicles into the evap cannister etc, all to do with emission control. "late" UK spec V8's "may" also have it.

265/65-18 is 31.5" approx, will most likely catch the front bumper on turning and the steering stops may need adjusting as well, will be fine if you have a 40mm + lift. I concour with the "weak" sidewalls af the AT2, hence I went with tyres with a 3 ply sidewall for hopefully more strength.

Sounds more like possible engine overboosting or misfire to me rather than a gearbox issue, the box should not cause the engine to judder, it should easliy rev with it all the way up to max RPM in any gear, this also seems true as it behaves under normal driving, and if the box had an "issue" it...

REF the 3 trim fasteners, if you have new ones then great, if not instead of the knocking the centres into oblivion, what you can do is drill a tiny hole down the centre of them, then insert a small self tapping screw a few turns, then use some pliers to pull the centres out, that way you can...

Is it an Auto or Manual ? If auto check the Auto box ECU has not been drowned (under passenger seat) Also remove the engine ECU and check the plugs / sockets are not wet.

Dont bet on it!!, in usual Land Rover fashion the XYZ switch now retails at £315 + vat, not much of a price increase!! :eek:

I would get it checked with a diagnostic tool to make sure the vehicle is configured correctly before pulling it apart Its quite possible "someone" has messed around with Nanocom or similar and re-configured the vehicle to a manual box with no ACE as the BCU can be "iffy" when writing to it...

All the "guess" work is pretty much pointless, get the fault codes read correctly and go from there.
