I changed the centre section to straight through, because a stainless section was cheaper than a standard silencer. I can’t say I’ve noticed a particular power difference, sounds different but nothing spectacular.

I’ve found out a 4 hole towbar that can be used legally with an adjustable drop plate similar to a Dixon Bates! :D

I asked Witter, they said no! I’m waiting to hear back from a towbar fitter who’s trying to find one.

Not sure if that can be done. I thought of putting bigger wheels on the van but it might cause clearance problems.

It’s a basic towbar, a Witter I think. Witter say I can’t fit a drop plate, and Dixon Bates day I can’t fit one of theirs. Both would work, just not legally!

I have a problem with towing our caravan, which is old and has a lower tow hitch than new vans. It was fine with the old car but the Freelander towbar is high, tips the caravan backwards, and it snakes on the road. Apparently it’s illegal to fit a drop plate on a towbar unless it’s been tested...

I'm off work today, so what the hell, I tried "building my Defender" with all the best options (even the fag lighter and ashtray, and a tyre pressure gauge at £31!) and it came to £105,083. Now. what about insurance...:eek:

I've got a problem with mine, I've just changed from a Duster to a Freelander 2 and the towball is slightly higher, I have an old van with a low tow hitch and it's less stable as it lifts the front of the van. It's illegal to fit a drop plate to most towbars, so I might end up having to fit new...
