Freelander 1 Cost of quality diesel

I can only think that Land Rover have tweaked the later models to run better on fancy fuel, do they now have oil company investments? they all ran perfectly well on basic fuel before circa year 2000, whats changed??

    electric window problem

not electrics related, but I'm thinking, is it worth taking off door cards and giving a good spray of silicone to the metal and plastic parts of the window mechanisms, I guess that they must get crusty and dry out over time.

Freelander 1 Cost of quality diesel

I'd be very interested to know how it works out, I believe its an urban myth re supermarket fuel being inferior, simply cos its all I've ever used and have never had a problem, I might be wrong, but can only comment on what I've experienced myself.

Disco I II III maybe a Freelander or something else??

look at 2.0 406's they go pretty cheap cos not many folk in the uk seem to know how damned good they are, research for yourself. I've had a 3 seater settee in the back of mine and been able to fully close the boot.

Disco I II III maybe a Freelander or something else??

I think economically speaking, a car would certainly be a wiser choice, yes, sad face indeed, but at least you'd have more peace of mind. depends what you want to spend, there are plenty of well maintained d1's around with a wad having been spent on them, its just being willing to keep on top of...

Disco I II III maybe a Freelander or something else??

I think its that concern that makes people keep up with landy maintenance, like a weird addiction, self sabotage, live dangerously vibe, i've sworn never to own another landy at least 4 times, but cant help myself, my other car, which I don't worry about, is a pug 406 2.0 hdi. I love it, and...

Disco I II III maybe a Freelander or something else??

the 1.6 hdi however is prone to start falling apart at around 80.000 miles though, so I'd forget that version, the 2.0hdi is a record breaker, there are some in France with 600.000 plus miles on the clock, it also until recently held the world record for longest distance traveled on a single...

Disco I II III maybe a Freelander or something else??

just my initial gut reaction to the post, I've had both, xsara Picasso is boring but superbly designed and a top 2.0 hdi engine, its capable of mega miles, good mpg, high driving position, huge boot, got a lot going for it practically speaking, I chose the D1 for almost gizmo free but comfy...

    Camper Advice Please

saw a great little alternative to a sink on Dragons den on Iplayer last night, think it was episode 3 or 4, basically a water bottle with a teat that released enough water to rinse your hands when you touched it, I always think the shower in a caravan is a waste of space too, seems easier to...

    Camper Advice Please

Looks great, but I'd guess it drives like an office block on anything but a dead straight road, I'm looking at doing something simple with my disco1, a bed sink+cooker affair, something easily removable, either that, or a trailer tent,

Freelander 1 Cost of quality diesel

when you consider that the diesel engine was designed in the days of empire, to run on poorly refined peanut oil in the tropics, you'd think modern refineries would be capable of producing something perfectly usable today.
