    thanks for all the replies so far guys going to check the relay tomorrow and some of the other suggestions and if still failing will take the starter off and have a closer look on the week end, thinking of also checking the vehicle engine to chassis earth cables to.

    She changed the whole thing, steering cowl off wires unplugged , bolts undone and whole new unit put in. SOrry if this isn't making any sense chaps.
