    Pressurising 4.6

Yeah I know sorry about the pics, bit dark in my workshop and only had the phone to take them with. I ran my nail across the tops of all the liners could not feel them, so I'm tending to think clean it all up, check the heads for flat skim if required, new gaskets etc and slap it back...

    Pressurising 4.6

Hopefuly you can see from the pics where the gasket has given up and the burn is showing on the block and the gasket above the second cylinder, also you may be able to make out where the end cylinder has gone across the gasket to the water way, when a liner slips or leaks does it show as a burn...

    Pressurising 4.6

Hmmm bit of a dilemma now....... I've started taking out the pressurising engine, I decided to pull the heads of with it in the car as it's easier to get at the bell housing bolts this way and I have to strip most of the parts off later to convert my new engine. Now I have the head of the...

    4.6 p38 engine change

Well here I go, half past nine and just going out to start changing the engine, gotta brush the snow off before I put it in the garage and straight into it! I'm going to strip the heads off with the block in the car, just incase it is really obvious that the gaskets are fooked, if so I may...

    Nos on a V8??

The guys on the v8 forum are good on turbo info as well, sorry not wanting to sell my turbo kit, I've still got the range rover it came off and still on the road, I built another 3.5 with a hurricane cam, stage 2 heads, balanced crank etc and hollie carb, just as thirsty on petrol but not half...

im normally opposed to tarted up grills for the P38 but what you make of this?

Black is the way mine is going as well, mine is looking very faded grey at the moment, although the car is blue I'm thinking I would get away with just painting it satin black as it's easy and can't look any worse than faded as it is now! Steve

    Heater o rings now changed..

Got to change my engine over the next week or so, looking for jobs that will need doing over the next few months that I should do while the engine is out, would there be any real advantage to change the rings while the engine is out or is the only gain the fact that the water will be out and the...

    Pressurising 4.6

Thanks J thats it then decission made i will just bite the bullet and buy it and get on with the swap, I will pull the heads off before pulling the complete engine out , just incase there are obvious signs that one of the headgaskets has gone but I'm pretty sure with all my testing it is the...

    Pressurising 4.6

Latest update with this problem...... It's been a while as I have plenty of other cars and vans to use but not much spare time to fix them! I have since last post bought a new stat and new water pump, I was going to buy a new radiator as well but when I took it out it was like new so not...

nationwidetrim.com do one for RR Classic, about £225 I think. They do a fitting service as well I think, though with a bit of patience and beer I don't think it is a hard job!! Steve

    P38 , 4.6l power loss and popping.

Ohh yeah forgot to add you can use brake cleaner solvent to clean the MAF you should not be touching the wire as very sensitive, just spray plenty of cleaner around it and hope for the best....... I did mine, slight improvement but not cured so will be spending out on a new one but for now have...

    P38 , 4.6l power loss and popping.

Maf would be my 1st choice as well, STAY AWAY FROM THE CHEAP EBAY ONES!!!! All I have read/been told about the cheap copies are that they either don't work well from the start or they just don't last long, the problem I see would be that you could put a cheap one on and then think that was not...

Any way to stop lpg freezing??

Yep Vapouriser would be the 1st place to look, I've had a couple that have frozen in the past, as p76rangie says, water not circulating properly, you could try running the engine properly up to temp on petrol before switching to gas but really I would guess that you have a problem that is...

    P38 power loss

Hi yes I think that's right one but not 100% as totally wrong engine layout, it is after the air filter on the big hose, it has a short black pipe about 3" long 2 1/2" diameter, it has a wire clipped into the sensor on the side of the tube, the tube is held to the rest of the pipe with hook and...

    P38 power loss

Could try unplugging the air flow meter? mine is playing up ...... along with the water problems! My symptoms sound similar, unplugged the maf and night and difference, gotta be worth a try, just start it up, pop the bonnet, keep the revs up while unplugging then drive......... Steve

    temperature problems on p38

For £3.60 I would guess that they are just selling you the stat from a range rover classic not the p38, you need to order the complete heart shaped stat as it is sealed so you will not be able to fit just the stat you have ordered. Do a search on eBay for p38 thermostat and they have plenty on...
