Diary of a first time Range Rover owner

Just to eliminate it as a potential cause, my jump leads are fine. They're at least as thick as the battery leads in the vehicle. I've just ordered a replacement starter motor from Emmotts for £35 quid, and having read a bit about replacing them I don't suppose anyone local wants to fit it for...

Sorry, but why would a different new battery work if the current new one doesn't? I don't follow your logic.

I charged the booster pack as well as the original battery. :) Anyway, I just tried the new battery with jump leads idea (genius btw!) and same result. The rain has produced a large puddle under the car, and being dark I couldn't really see the starter motor from under the bonnet, so giving it...

I have AA cover. Am just getting a dominos to cheer myself up, maybe I'll call them while I eat. :)

As I've said, the car is stuck at the station and I can't get to anywhere to exchange the incorrect battery or get mine tested until Saturday. I'm just exploring my options in trying to get the bloody thing home at the moment. I hoped charging the battery would be enough to get it to fire up...

Yes yes, ha ha ha, I have the wrong battery, what an incredible imbecile I am. I'll be returning that one on Saturday. With the old battery having been charged now and reading 12.3v, it still won't turn over suggesting the whole battery thing was a red herring from the start. Suggestions on...

Well I used the halfords battery selector thing and bought what it told me. Dunno if the chap in store picked the wrong one up or if their system is wrong though. Anyway, more fun and this time in the rain. Fitted my charged existing battery and after ****ing about to trigger the alarm so I...

Diary of a first time Range Rover owner

Heh, thanks :) Having got over last nights frustrations with the new battery I took the old one home and put it on charge (the stupid car is still stuck at the train station car park costing £3.20 a day in parking). The existing battery looks to be way too small though: This is the new...

The battery doesn't fit. Well it fits in the hole, but I can't connect it as the negative terminal is about an inch further away than the bastard wire will reach. ####ing ****!

Having seen the picture of the one on halfords website I'm pretty sure my current one is a fair bit smaller. I'm thinking at some point someone has put a cheap and underpowered one in there rather than a full fat one. I'm very tempted to get a new battery & RF receiver just to eliminate them...

Sorry for not having had chance to do all that between it happening at 11pm last night and me leaving for work at 7am this morning, very slack of me I know. Given that I won't be back at the vehicle until 7pm tonight I thought I might get some suggestions in the meantime. I've not had any...

Another day and another issue. Last night I drove to collect the wife from the station as usual, her train was slightly delayed so I turned the engine off and sat with radio & side lights on for 5 mins tops. Went to start the car and it won't crank. I get a click and nothing like the battery...

    Where is the RF modulator?

Disconnecting the blue aerial wire is the "accepted" way to work around it. It'll reduce its range so you need to be stood next to the car to unlock it. As for buying the new one, it seems they're becoming harder to get - a main dealer will be your best bet.

Diary of a first time Range Rover owner

A couple of weeks ago I was posting about replacing my key fob batteries and only then getting the "keyfob battery low" message. After getting back from holiday that message has gone and not come back so I think that's ok for now. The other issue I was having was the tailgate doesn't open...

When was that, and did it include VAT?

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Left it at the airport parking. Who knows if it'll work when we get back!

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Tried the key while it was playing up and it didn't open. I also very occasionally get the random lock/unlock thing when driving around. What's involved with new locks? Do I need new keys and stuff too?

What did you do with your Range Rover today

After struggling to fit the cat cage on the back seat to drop them at the cattery I get home and the door locks do a little dance. I lock it and unlock and hey presto - the tailgate works again. So, door lock or rf receiver? Either way it'll have to wait until I'm back from me hols. Edit: or...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Mines had an override spliced in which up to now has worked perfectly. Obviously today that doesn't work either. It's all been slightly strange since I changed the key fob batteries :(
