daily stolen land rover reports-anti theft suggestions

Many add-on steering wheel locks actually make part of the tea-leafs job easier.

    rotate axel

Rotating the axle will make the fastest reversing series truck in town :) But I suspect the fact the front diff is off-centre could create some serious problems:(

    Novice

Im with Teflon, CBs can be easily and discreetly mounted without the need for holes in the bodywork. For a long time I had a "bootlid mount" on the front bumper. Two screws on the inside of the bumper to grip, cable routed through the bulkhead with all the rest of the elctrics, and radio screwed...

Replacing front shock bushes, DIY and how?

Other than the torque wrench, you may find you need a turret ring and some way of compressing the coil spring and/or method of lifting the chassis off said spring & turret ring. Official answer is no, worn dampers can have negative effects on braking.

Need your help :) (new boy)

On tow, it will more than likely still be driven from a legal standpoint, and so needs insurance. If not driven whilst being towed by way of an A-frame/dolly, it will more than likely be illegal still unless the frame/dolly is of the braked variety, and very few are. Suitable trailer or...

96 300tdi auto engine braking on steep decent?

Low ratio, transmission in 1st, it will whine like a whiney thing and speed up until the engine maxes out, but wont go any faster. Just think what your top speed is if you floored it on the level locked in 1st and low, not that fast really, it just seems it with all the noise and a 45 degree...

12v feed in the back ???

Personally, I just run a heavy cable to the back for all that gubbins, unless of course you have the second 7pin socket for the towbar, but thats ignition switched. The other thing I have done in the past is just an extra battery in back. The only other feed I can think of is the pathetic excuse...

    will this fail the mot

Hunt down some 16" wheel trims. They cant remove them, long as the wheel feels secure its a pass.

    will this fail the mot

Every steel wheel I ever fitted to LR products never had 2 threads showing. Flush fitting was normal. That is for discos & RRCs, none of them ever failed for not having protruding threads. I personally wouldnt like it, but should be secure like that if done up properly.

    Breather pipe leaking???

Admittedly I looked up the price under disco, but hubseals are 47p each plus vat & postage from mansfield. Of course there are other costs too, lock-washer , swivel grease etc, that bring the price up

    Fitting a wraparound

Must admit, first look said to me it was from RRC. Just would have expected 2 holes in each mounting lug.

    Coil Conversion

I believe said wee box o' tricks is actually a land rover dealers computer, where you drive to the stealership, get them to plug you in and disable air suspension.

Knocking noise when going over bumps etc on road

Bushes. Depending on the age/useage of your disco they could all be getting close to needing replacement, but 60k, on a 94 motor sounds unusually low mileage wise, but unless already replaced that rubber will be 15 years old now

    will not start

Machine gun noise sounds like it could be solenoid. Usually happens when there is either not enough electrickery in the battery, cabling failed, or the solenoid is boogered.

300tdi interior on ebay - help required

Floorpans are pretty much identical on the RRC and both versions of the D1 IIRC. Just popped out and looked at the seat bases in our 5 door, and from memory they look to bolt down in the same places as the 3 door, but I dont have one to check against anymore. Do remember though, there is...

    MOT to do list

Yup, I would say front too. does it not say on the failure sheet if its front or rear balance thats out. If not then I guess they only test front balance. Bear in mind as well as being a sticky it could be low hydraulic pressure (buggered master, kinked/blocked lines) but sticky pistons win...

300tdi interior on ebay - help required

Nope, 3 & 5 door share the same front doors. On the downside, the 5door front seats will not tip forward to allow access to the back seat

    MOT to do list

    Sticky left.

    whats the best rope

I personally dont leave ropes/straps on all the time. But on the other hand if I am going out for the day knowing that there is a pretty good chance of someone getting stuck, I will leave a bridle on the front and a strap on the back securely held out of the way, simply because trying to attach...
