P38A Project Car - 1998 Autobiography Engine Rebuild

I really doubt that you bought 1200gms of R134a for only €18. If you take it to a place with a proper A/C recharge machine they suck out all remaining gas then vacuum or pressure test then refill with the correct amount of R134a. The P38 takes 1200gms of gas.

P38A Project Car - 1998 Autobiography Engine Rebuild

In the UK I don't think that it's worthwhile to regas yourself as so many places offer bargain regas at around £40 . I have used an ATS Groupon deal several times but it seems they aren't currently offering it. The P38 takes a lot of gas so the cost of aerosol cans to recharge will easily exceed...

    Air Con Not Working.

You will be better off using a specialist vehicle A/C firm than your local mechanic when it comes to fixing A/C problems.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

The DPF collects particulates ie soot particles. There is no test for particulates in the MOT.

P38A EAS Fault finding threads or files.

I find the free EAS Unlock V3 software much nicer to use than a Nanocm when calibrating the ride heights. https://www.rswsolutions.com/index.php/range-rover-classic/easunlock-software

P38A Remote not locking (but does unlock)

Unfortunately it's not possible to re-program the key fobs. You can still buy a genuine key fob from JLR for about £250.

P38A I’ll be first person ever with a fob Sync problem 😂 help please!

I have owned my 2001 Vogue for twelve years & for the first six years of ownership never encountered a single problem with it responding to the key fob. I then moved from a detached house in a rural location with parking on the drive into a house in town where I had to park on the street. Until...

P38A " I've just LOCKED my key in my motor

I once managed to drop my only key fob down the side of the driver's seat while getting out of the car at work. I'm still not entirely clear on the sequence of events but must have caught the lock button as I dropped the fob & the door slammed shut. I called out the RAC & the guy very quickly...

P38A Refurbished headlining - Great Service.

I had been contemplating a drive to Somerset but adding the cost of a 400 mile trip made the cost a bit too high so was pleased to find https://www.aldersclassics.co.uk/ much nearer to me just south of Norwich. They charged me £299 to replace the headlining on my P38 & did a beautiful job. I...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Funnily enough even when it was chugging like an old tractor the performance & fuel consumption were unaffected.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

When I took my P38 to V8 Developments I drove it with a blowing head gasket the 120 miles to Lincolnshire. It sounded like an old tractor & turned heads as I drove through towns & villages all along the way through Essex & Suffolk.

P38A 97 P38 Gems - EAS issue which seems to have expanded

A Nanocom is not tied to a single VIN but for P38 you buy a code for either GEMS or Motronic or Diesel but it will then work for all GEMS etc.

    P38 exhaust

This is very good value for a stainless steel exhaust system. Unfortunately they don't do a stainless front box so I had to get a regular mild steel one. https://www.gravityperformance.co.uk/product/exhaust/cat-back-exhaust-system-range-rover-p38-mk2-v8-td-94-02/

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Here is the thread that I started a few years ago when I needed to get a photo of the chassis number so that JLR would issue me a Certificate of Conformity that I needed while re-registering my P38 in France. Finding it caused me a lot of head scratching before I finally was able to find &...

    2.5 ton paperweight??

The small Nanocom touch screen can be irritating but I think that the convenience of the device always being in the glove compartment makes up for that. Storey Wilson's EAS Unlock software runs on Windows (can be via a VM on a Mac) & the free V3 version is much nicer than a Nanocom for...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

My go to for A/C recharge is always the Groupon deal that ATS have been running for years. Current price is £41.99 https://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/ats-euromaster-6

    P38A Head gasket advice needed

I just had V8 Developments do a full rebuild on my 4.6L & it's now running as sweet as a nut. It's odd looking under the car at the shiny aluminium engine with no oil leaks.😀 They kept the car for an inordinate number of months but the wait was worth it. The engine had done 175,000 miles. I turn...

    P38A P38 Leaking Oil

The recommendation I got from V8 Developments after they rebuilt my engine was an oil change with Valvoline VR1 Racing 20w-50 after 1,000 miles then every 5,000 miles after that.

Is an engine replacement in a 4.6 P38 a complicated job?

At 150,000 miles my P38 started to overheat & in desperation I used Steel Seal which fixed the problem & lasted 25,000 miles before the head gasket started blowing. I then had V8 Developments rebuild my engine which now runs as sweet as a nut with no overheating & no oil leaks. If you are...
