Diesel will run with just under half a tank with a dead pump. Is yours petrol? Had a play with the pump today, I reckon it'll fill a 20ltr drum through the 10mm lines I've fitted to it in around 2 minutes.
Still driving around in her just keeping it topped up until we have a dry mild ish day...
I can't see how that would be easy to do on a standard set up with the moulded pipework and the lump on the end connected to the fuel filter housing. However, on this occasion you are a genius!
Mine was standard until I decided to fit a facet pump on the bulkhead which meant cutting the pipe to...
I agree that there should have been an access flap but I can't bring myself to cut the floor. It's all been off before and replaced with new bolts and clips so not expecting it to take an age to drop out.
But I hear ya!
I've got a self priming pump as long as I can get a hose down the filler neck. Think I'll root about in me bits and bobs, see if I can reduce the 3/4 down to 10mm.
I've got some 10mm nylon airline!
I remember seeing a flappy valve thing when I removed the tank to do the brake pipes 3? Years ago, just where it joins the rubber hose to the tank.
My new vdo pump has arrived and as I need to keep the tank half full to keep driving I've thinking about how to empty it for removal. Is there an anti syphon arrangement in the filler system anywhere? I've got a 12v fuel pump that I'll probably have to step down the 3/4" hose on it.
I'd get 2 new hose clips ready too if they are anything like mine were.
I cut them through with something, can't remember what, hacksaw, dremal, grinder or broken hacksaw blade. Mines a diesel though, hacksaw only on a ⛽️ petrol.!
Thanks to @boguing for the ring leak detection stuff heads up.
Decided to try it yesterday in the transfer box. Put 1 bottle in after topping up the oil level, went for a run to mix it all up then waited until it went darkish outside. UV torch showed the culprit straight away, glows bright...
Discovery 1 rear axle fitted to a 90 is a common conversion, fits straight on I believe. The same axle will also fit a 110 but it is NOT load rated for a 110. A Salisbury disc braked axle off a later 110 with fit an early drum braked 110 though, I've done that to mine. You can also convert a...
Mines a 1985 so earth's may be different on yours. I rebuilt her on a new chassis and bulkhead 23 years ago and did a lot of wiring modifications along the way...alot!
So I may have put more headlamp earths in? I don't recall.... but they are just inboard of the headlamp bowl on mine. I have an...
Yes, I remember reading that and with your doggo too.
I think I was more cheesed off as I had a text from autoaid giving me a slot at roughly 1 hrs from the text, then another 1 hrs after that then another 1 hrs after that. Think it was 3hrs and 20 mins total. Freezing day for me too but I was...
I'm with them, 3 yrs now I think. Had to use them for the first time a couple of weeks back, I posted about my experience on here somewhere. I felt they didn't have many recovery agents, 3hrs until they got to me and a £25 excess has to be paid as the p38 is over 20yrs old or summut.
Think the...
Just got back from the shrewsbury autoglass 'depot' for the 3rd attempt at a new windscreen. If anyone is curious?
1st attempt, new windscreen had the wrong mirror mount, mobile fitter tried to swop it over but broke the new screen.
2nd attempt, mobile fitters again, correct screen this time but...
They protrude out the back, that bit goes rusty and then it can bind up just as you think you are winning.
Get something on that before you start. My new genuine O rings started leaking again sometime, can't remember how long, after I did the job. Got fed up and ordered the audi matrix, started...
Dry and mild this morning so whipped off the osr door card to investigate the iffy sill knob.
Nothing amiss but a spray of silicone on the plastic cam and the rod guides got it running smooooth again.
