TD5 or V8, sounds like you've blocked an oil gallery to the rocker shaft IMHO.

That might apply to solid side vans but the 110 SW as in this case is much more sought-after and fetches a premium over the 90 SW.

That was a break in the wiring loom from the pump on mine some where mid chassis, one of the small 2 wires (4 wires , 2 thick, 2 thin). Later the other thin wire went too and the amber light went out also. I spliced 2 new wires in near the filter at one end and under the front N/S inner wing...

Surely that's a worn piston ring symptom not HG and only a problem if excessively breathing??

You're going to have to line it up better than that to get it started, you're going in at the wrong angle there. Follow the advice of Stanley above.

I wouldn't use any sort of power tool as you'll get low dips , just a good razor blade scraper and some fine emery roll by hand.

IMHO you leave well alone until required, there have been quite a few instances of people cracking the injector sleeve when removing them so to me it isn't worth the risk especially when there is also a good chance you may never have to change them.

IMHO you WILL regret getting rid of such a nice original Defender and will never find another as good to go back to. I would have a very serious rethink before going past the point of no return.

IIRC it is 8mm spanner size that you should be able to reach in or disconnect battery, remove 2 x circlips holding top of bag and jack car up off bag to gain better access to nut? P.S. you've inflated that airbag dangerously high IMHO, they don't half explode if allowed to over inflate.

That's exactly where I would be heading.

Also check your engine mountings, they have an inspection hole in the bottom of them; if the centre mounting rubber is protruding through the centre hole or there isn't a clear 10mm gap they are buggered.
