What did you do with your Range Rover today

My parents had a similar issue with a Hilux a few years back, had been sold with a cracked head but with some crap in there to hide it. About 3 months later it started blowing coolant pipes. Guy was a family friend where I did my apprenticeship as a mechanic, refused to pay a penny. Took about a...

P38A Slow to rev, down on power

That's what this appears to be, going to reach out to a place in Bristol (DTM I believe) that can refurb them, average price seems to be 800-1000, some parts are unobtanium though, so if they are broken the pump is for the scrapper. Gotcha, so unplug it and it should resort to a default map...

P38A Slow to rev, down on power

Okay, gotcha. Yeah EGR unplugged is doing nothing, had hose to it off to check for signs of exhaust passing anyway which was clear. Replaced the vacuum solenoid for it as I had one, did nothing. I even tried unplugging No4 injector, weirdly the engine ran smoother, but still now power. I cleared...

Tried that and didn't help. When you say vacuum pipe, for the EGR, or the MAP?

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Tried to get a dispute logged with PayPal for a refund on the FIP which I'm pretty sure is dead. PayPal says no, I have 180 days from day payment is made, but only 30 days after delivery, so I had 30 days to report the fault. By the time the fault appeared I'd missed the window and it seems...

Other Your Username - Where's it from, What does it mean??

I've used Biscuit for a number of years, got that name because a lad at college was talking about soggy biscuit and I refused to accept that anyone has ever played it in the history of time. Everyone has heard of it, no one knows anyone who has ever played it. It's nothing more than an urban...

P38A Slow to rev, down on power

I'll give it a try in the morning and see how I get on. Unfortunately the closest people haven't been on the forums for 6 years. Nearest after that is over an hour away, so I'll try to exhaust local garages. Maybe I'll get lucky.

That's a Google Street View photo. So you made it to the big leagues, you're on Google.

P38A Slow to rev, down on power

In tank pump was replaced a few years back, will run right down to the bottom of the gauge, so gonna say good. Currently sat with a full tank. I'll check the filter for flow and cleanliness. As I recall, when the glow plugs are on I should have a constant flow of fuel? I'm guessing the pipe from...

P38A Slow to rev, down on power

So I checked all of this, came back EGR clean, that vacuum has been blanked off. I have no power when engine is cold, slow to rev, put it in drive and it won't lift off of idle. Zero power. Leave her to run for 20odd minutes to get toasty and I can at least move, low power but I can move. Sounds...

P38A Slow to rev, down on power

This is the offender. The studs it attaches to are only glued to the bulk head and they had separated ways, some how the plug in it had become detached. I tried to cable tie it back in place, not pretty but is holding for now.

P38A Slow to rev, down on power

That was my understanding, but everywhere I've looked has it as a boost control solenoid. Guess it's the same thing just used differently? I've have a further investigation tomorrow when the rain stops.

P38A Slow to rev, down on power

Yes, 2.5 P38. I was pondering the possibility of it sticking open without the vacuum line disconnected. It sits behind the EAS compressor against the bulk head. One of the outlets goes to the EGR, one has an air filter on it, the other I haven't worked out where it goes to yet.

That's for the radio. The fob receiver is a little black box.

P38A Slow to rev, down on power

Howdy, hoping for someone with more ideas than I do has some clues. FIP was replaced in October, failed November. Finally got her back with a new FIP on Wednesday. Guy said she is down on power, but after the last one died was hesitant to chase any. Fair enough, don't want to dump gallons of...

The note explains there is fuel plus a 75kg driver added to the minimum weight of the vehicle to create the kerb weight.

It was a recon Bosch pump, but clearly not done a very good job with it. Been fitted for a month. Big sad.

Don't suppose you have his details? I'm going to need a new pump for sure. Went out to defrost the car this morning and she wouldn't start, but dumped all of the contents of the FIP on the ground.

Found out the hard way, don't buy a "fully reconditioned pump" from CN4x4. Been on about a month and already leaking through the seals. He has ghosted me for refunding the core charge and now ghosting me about fixing the issue. Giving him until tomorrow morning before I raise a dispute with...
