Freelander 1 What oil for Td4?

On a responsible owners forum such as this, definitely not! 😁

Freelander 1 What oil for Td4?

Absolutely. I’ll be doing mine after the hols. Every 6 months 5W/40. Much cheaper and infinitely more convenient than than an engine shaped door stop. I also change the crankcase breather and clean the EGR while it’s draining. 👍🏻

What have you done to your Freelander today

Well, got my FL1 back with a brand spanking new clutch, cylinders, DM flywheel and an engine tie rod. 156k. The perfect Xmas prezzie. 😁

    Freelander 1 No gear selection.

Well got the FL back today. New clutch, both cylinders, DM flywheel and a lower tie rod. I asked them to check engine/diff mounts as there was a ‘thud’ on a couple of occasions when I had to brake suddenly. Wallet rather a bit lighter 🤷‍♂️ as I opted ( recommended on here as well as the...

    Clutch pedal on the floor

Hi Andy, thanks for that. It’s at a good classic LR specialist, literally 3 miles away, and his rates are around the £45-50 mark. He’s got a 13 plate FL2 for sale for £7k and I was initially tempted when it first happened and was recovered back, but I do like my FL1. Not least because when it...

    Clutch pedal on the floor

Yup. I’ve assumed the ‘braced’ position when I go to pay…🤷‍♂️😁

    Clutch pedal on the floor

Hi, My first port of call for decent quality parts is Advanced Factors. https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/clutch-hydraulics-13830-c I hate to be the bearer of potential bad news, but my 06 TD4 did the same about a month ago and it turned out to be the concentric slave cylinder in the gear box...

    Freelander 1 No gear selection.

Thanks Alibro for your input. I will be changing the entire guts in the bell housing - at the very least it’ll be a good selling point for quite a while, and peace of mind for me in the meantime. 🤞I’ve managed to find a LUK DMF for £449 here...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Decided to bite the bullet and change the clutch, flywheel and cylinders after my clutch slave cylinder purged itself last week in N. Wales. 🤦🏻‍♂️ https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/no-gear-selection.395889/

    Freelander 1 No gear selection.

Thanks to all for your replies and info, vids etc. Apparently the FL will be delivered today at my usual LR mechanic so hopefully I’ll soon have a diagnosis! Nodge, as the DMF is the most expensive part how would it be determined that it should be replaced, and would you change it irrespective...

    Freelander 1 No gear selection.

Thanks GG. Yes indeedy. Every cloud an’ that…👍🏻 J_D. We were staying in Degenwy, so we and it were recovered back there. The FL is going into secure storage to be recovered back to my mechanic in “the next 3-5 working days “. 🤷‍♂️ Nodge, ouch, yes much gnashing of teeth and sucking noises...

    Freelander 1 No gear selection.

Hi All, This is not so much a question as I think I’ve pretty much had it diagnosed by way of elimination. It’s more of this happened and…. Anyway away in North Wales for my birthday and my FL1 gave me about 30 minutes notice of refusing to let me select any gear, before flatly refusing at all...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Thanks Freddie17, seen them, and that one particularly. I’m thinking they’ll be in a similar state as mine. There’s also plenty of cargo netting to be had but the amount I need and the amount you have to buy doesn’t really make sense. I tried sewing/haberdashery sites and the have some but it’s...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Anyone been able to find a suitable replacement for the roof netting? I’m waiting for the elastic as it did it’s last stretch along time ago but the netting will still be sagging. Cheers, M.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Well it’s been torrential rain here (N. Yorkshire) all day so I got the gluing of headliner done. Not perfect but not bad for a first attempt. Kitchen implements used as weights for the magazine net shape. Not 100% successful…..

Atomician, The pic you were asking for. As Alibro said there’s loads of space. 😊

What have you done to your Freelander today

Consider it done. Will take some pix tomorrow. I managed to get my dash cam cables up and across with not much trouble. 👍🏻

What have you done to your Freelander today

A result for you there. Unfortunately for me I got sick of the dust all over the dash and steering wheel, it rubbing on my head and starting to block the rear view mirror. If it all goes pear shaped I could easily get used to no headliner thought. For future reference, does anyone know what the...

What have you done to your Freelander today

I noticed the insulating effect today after I’d got it out and was putting the various fasteners back in their places. It was very hot without it in. I’ve got a few bitumen deadening panels left from my MG project, would you put them on the roof or do you think they or their glue would melt and...

Thanks Andy. Never thought of that. Glue that was supplied is supposedly good for 110°C. 👍🏻
