    PSI Powerbox. Damage auto box?

I have read on here (and other forums) a couple of times that fitting a PSI powerbox or similar to a DSE can damage or cause wear to the auto box by the extra power generated. Is this true or just biased nonsense put out by petrol drivers and people who have not got PSIs on their diesels!!? How...

renewing air bags and brakes etc

Cant see any point in replacing brake calipers themselves unless they are seized etc. Just a strip, clean and new seals to go with your new discs ans pads then it should feel like new. Only seized calipers or ones that are leaking (perhaps due to scored piston bores) need replacing.

    Sticky time ?

The FAQ stickies would be an excellant idea. Im a member of Alfa owners forum. Looks like this Alfa 147, 156 & GT - Alfa Romeo Forum . You might notice that it looks and runs exactly the same as this forum (without the language!!) so im guessing the same software was used to construct it so...

    p38 4.0 lpg or 2.5 diesel?

I have to agree about the "sensible" bit but its a real pity. I dont wont to be sensible, I want a V8!!! But this is the real world, a world where fuel is going to £1.40 a litre by Easter (if not before), a world where it would be nice to be able to feed my wife and child, a world where at the...

    Black deisel

Well personally I have never heard of black diesel! All very educational. However sound like a really bad idea. Parts of oils job is to remove acids and other corrosive elements that form during the combustion process and thats half the reason we have to change it once in a while! So to go and...

    erratic idle dse

Does sound like dmf prob to me causing the slightly out of balance feel on the idle. Had the prob in another car (nissan navara) and a new flywheel (fitted a solid one...hooray) cured it. The old one did not have that much play when inspected either. Sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear.

    Towing in lower height range

Agreed (for twin axles) but if your tow bar is at correct height (approx 17.5 inches at top of ball when unhitched) and most caravan hitches are at about 19 to 20 inches when level it makes it virtually impossible to have anything other than nose down.

    Towing in lower height range

No it shouldnt. Im a salesmanager at one of the biggest caravan retailing groups in the UK so I know a bit about it!!! Caravan should be slightly nose down. If you really cant do anything about it , level is OK but you wont get the best tow. Never ever nose up. This causes instability caused by...

2.5 DSE how many miles good for?

About 35 (thats miles, not thousands of miles!).....or it was in the case of one that was bought on a farm I did a bit on back in the day. Bought brand new in 98 or 99 , it did not make it back from the dealers to the farm before it threw a rod straight through the side of the block and stopped...

L322 advice, what to look for?

He wasted his time! Airbag light is not part of the MOT yet , unlike ABS light which must go out! This may however all change when new MOT rules come into play in Jan 2012!

    Water in petrol

Should not make any difference (unless there is water in the petrol station tank before the petrol was delivered in which case loads of people would have same problem) because reqardless of which petrol brand you use the fuel will come from the same (most local) depot. This is after an agreement...

"Oh One thing he did say was there were 2 TD5 Engines? 10p and 15p?" Well his prices are certainly cheap!!!

Coil springs! Why would anyone do that to the car!

Marvellous!!! All the disadvantages of coils (harsh ride, strange handling etc etc) combined with all the disadvantages of EAS (reliabilty, complexity etc) !!!! Genius. Spect that handles interestingly as well with suspension that must be at the least missmatched front to rear!

Petrol Prices To Hit £70 A Tank By Easter !!

All the above is the reason im getting a derv RR. Its not really what I want. Had my heart set on a V8 (loved the 4.2 V8 in my old audi A8 but at least that got 23 mpg and had gas for when I was feeling poor(er)). But with the scarey fuel consumption figures bandied about by you V8 owners and...

    De-Catting The Beast

Hmmm. Interesting. Just off to get the tape measure to see if the big block HEMI (7.2l) chevy lump from 1976 ive got in the garage will fit under the bonnet of my 2001 alfa!

    De-Catting The Beast

Still would not be legal as in it would not pass the stricter emmisions test (assuming it was registered after Aug 92) for the later plated car.

Coil springs! Why would anyone do that to the car!

Hi. Im still looking for an Ok Range Rover 2.5 Diesel DSE or DHSE(I say "OK" as my budget wont run to mint!!) and have driven a few now. I drove one yesterday that although was really bright and the motor was A1 plus everything seemed to work. But it had been fitted with coil springs. WHY WOULD...

If you read one of my earlier post you would see that I lived on one til recently and its only luck (meeting wife with house!) that im dont now...so I have no probs with est or the people that live on them. The fact is that there was more crime and dodgy charactors on the est...
