Well I ended up with 5 new ball joints including associated track rods and the steering is transformed! What's worrying is that the car was MOT'd late November not long before I bought it. Having had the joints replaced I can now appreciate how bad they were.

Thinking about it, what was lucky was that I didn't initially realise the steering was broken but thought I had a flat tyre; if I had known straight away that I had no steering I might have stopped a bit quicker which, in a twisty bit of road, could easily have lead to me being hit from the next...

OK thanks - that looks like £360 odd. Will it allow me to interrogate the ECU and see why there is 'no activity' or no signal from the lambda sensors? The garage I spoke to suggested that either the ECU was damaged or chipped to remove the Lambda's so (looking at ebay for P38 ECU's) are ECU's...

The only diagnostics I have is Torque phone app and a bluetooth OBD connector so can't get those values. What's the cost of an effective diagnostics kit?

Fault code says O2 sensor communication inactive both banks, and the MAF was changed with the fault present with both MAF's, so it does really seem to be a lambda communication issue.

I picked the car up today and it is better. Apparently there is just no input registering from the lambda sensors. The garage replaced one with a new one but still no input. Apparently next step would be to get the ECU checked to see if there is a physical fault or whether the lambda sensors...

Thanks - I've started another thread now. Basically the problem wasn't LPG particularly. The hydrocarbons & O2 readings were way off and there was a missfire so he replaced the MAF, replaced plugs & leads. It now runs miles better BUT the ECU is not registering any input from the lambda...
