Fitted a new piston ring in my air compressor, and set about investigating why the right hand rear suspension wasn't moving. The arm on the sensor that attaches to the suspension arm had come adrift from its clevis. So its now cable tied in place to see if eveything works again which it does! So...

If the oil control rings weren't working properly you'd almost expect the compression rings to be equally bad and have no compression and heavy breathing. Is there any sign of oil being forced into the air intake via the crankcase breather system?

To be fair I was going to have a look at the vanos units and timing chains first as there was a fault code for one bank stored in the ECU. If no joy there, then I'll dig deeper.
