The gears you are on about are the transfer box final output on high ratio, this is a good option because the low ratio is or should be the same. The quote is a little misleading, it affects all the high range gears not just 3rd 4th :)

It’s not a gauge off of a positive earth vehicle??? If you short out the tank sender wire to earth does the gauge go up to full? It should.

It sounds like a classic starter solenoid problem, greasing the bendix wont help, unless it’s a one off or loose battery wires or wires on the starter it will happen again.:eek:

You could change the sun gears in the diff to the splines you want

Some modern Gearboxes have a syncro for reverse gear, if your clutch isn’t disengaging properly the gearbox shafts still rotate maybe just a little too fast to engage, try engaging 1st first then reverse, the 1st gear syncro will slow the shaft down and may help to engage reverse,

The linkage was always a problem, also it might have an earlier clutch cover, multi coil spring type fitted.

I found it easier to remove the pedal box when doing the clutch M Cylinder it might be the same for the brake, especially if you’re working alone.

Hi, since the system runs fine on LPG this should eliminate the ignition side, if your tank was dirty it is probably up the line, injectors blocked ?. It sounds like its starting and running on the cold start injector as said earlier.
