    Claiming to be tax free?

So I called it a ringer - the ad misleads and calls it genuine. Its not genuine as it has no visible series 2a parts.

    Claiming to be tax free?

Some poor sod is about to part with nearly 4K with a good chance of it being impounded.

If this started life as a 1970 then I'm a dutchman! Land Rover 109 (Long Wheelbase) Series 3 Tax Exempt | eBay Newest parts on it are the number plates!

    Claiming to be tax free?

Thats the whole point though! These "tax free" series 3's for sale could well be stolen theoretically.

    Claiming to be tax free?

I'm sorry I don't really buy into that argument. I agree that some may have been changed but I've been into series 2 and 3 land rovers for 20 years and only in the last few years do I see so many "tax free" series 2's looking remarkably like a mid 70's/ early 80's series 3's. There was a land...

    Claiming to be tax free?

Yea you still get all the points. Only the running gear counts tbh. The obvious dodgy ones are when you see "series 2's" with series 3 bulkheads, which is a major feet to change, (looms etc) and then topped off with series 3 sills! Why would you bother with them?

    Claiming to be tax free?

Christ - touched a nerve there! Yea I know the rules, and I know the differences between a 2 and a 3 to know what is what.

    Claiming to be tax free?

Might get shot down here but owning a genuine tax free series 3, I find it rather a shame that I see so many other "tax free" series 3's for sale on ebay and alike knowing full well that they are non tax free series 3's with series 2 identities on them. Basically these vehicles are nothing more...

    My Land Rovers

Took the Discovery for an MOT today expecting it to fail miserably which would have been the excuse I needed to break it for the motor but it only went and passed with no advisories! I guess now's the time to sell it and look for one which is a genuine wreck to use the motor from. I reckon these...

I think your right. I'll see what paddock say in the morning. I mistakingly assumed it would be a simple task!:hysterically_laughi

    Clutch Slave cylinder wrong thread

The paddock invoice states TKC2786L. Maybe write part no. but wrong cylinder?

    Clutch Slave cylinder wrong thread

I'm not sure if my threads are imperial or metric. The original slave has really fine threads and the replacement course threads but a slightly smaller hole.

    Clutch Slave cylinder wrong thread

Just went to change my slave cylinder on my '89 200tdi with one bought from paddocks to find the new cylinder has courser threads so my pipe won't fit. Are there 2 types as the diesels all look the same on the paddock site? Or do I need to make a different pipe up? The damper has the same...

    My Land Rovers

I fitted Zeus disc brake conversions front and rear as I got fed up cleaning out the drums every time I went for a play! The half shafts seemed to be its Achilles heel, sometimes they'd last for ages other times they were rubbish. Pulled out my local petrol station once and bust a rear shaft as...

    My Land Rovers

Cheers for the replies. Why remove the turbo from a 200tdi? Is it purely to reduce the load into the drive train?

    My Land Rovers

Ok, so I have had a 1972 SWB series 3 for the best part of 12 years, and have carried out many modifications to it over the years including hydraulic winches, Ford V6 running megasquirt, disc brakes etc etc.... It pretty much got abandoned 2 years ago and has sat in the yard unloved. The winches...
