Turbo problems in 3 brand new defenders

To compound your complaint, warranty will decline subsequent damage if your drive the vehicle while a fault is know. I work for a lease company and fight with the pricks in dealerships/head office all day long over their crap products that they turn a blind eye to when it costs them money. In...

    My 110 rebuild

Thanks Mark, Anyway bit on an update. I have complete the front diff and finished installing power steering. This had me stumped for awhile as I was struggling to find power steer hoses for it. I went down the path initially of making up braided lines using aeroquip fittings, however with the...

    My 110 rebuild

I am an ex mechanic. I use to work for Mitsubishi, then Ford and Mazda. I have been off the tools since 05 though. Land Rovers have not changed much over the years and are easy to work on, just time consuming compared to a modern vehicle. Main reason being everything is nut and bolt unlike...

Engine mis-fire / pop noise, low revs medium to hard acceleration

I have Strombergs on mine. they cause major misfires on acceleration if the dashpots are out of oil. It causes it to run lean and through flames from the carb if your not careful. Might be something worth checking. Popping and farting in the exhaust system can be caused by an exhaust leak...

Does anyone know what this is?

To add to it. Look at the supply connection. It has 8 wires connecting to the plug. The other conections have 5. Chances are you should have another box coming off the main power connection along with earth power and acc.

Does anyone know what this is?

Im with a previous poster on here. Looks like it is for anti corrosion. I notice it has a frequency crystal on the pcb which would likely mean some form of transmiting is going on. I believe you can buy systems that put out an electric field around the metal ratherthan attaching to bare metal...

Does anyone know what this is?

I wonder how many people have broken ankles climbing out of those roof tents after being drunk and needing to take a **** in the night. Would have to laugh at any ones misfortune though. :)

4.4 rv8 build thread (Doc evil need not post)

Hey Fett bit off topic it, here are some images of the choke conversion. There is asmall bag of parts in the package for mounting the linkage to your inlet manifold and also a choke cable. One thing I thought I better advise you on, the pivot for the accelerator pump has a reverse thread...

    My 110 rebuild

The list of mechanical items to carry out on the vehicle has reduced. Once the front diff is finished there will only really be small items and body work left to go. I managed to find some alloy wheels and will look at having them re powder coated. Winter is a pain though as it slow progress...

    My 110 rebuild

Ok so i have been a little busy of late and not had much of a chance to post. However I have managed to get a little done on the front end of the vehicle. We are currently in the middle of winter so it has been slow going when it comes to being able to paint items. I pulled the front diff out...

    1983 110 V8 vacuum routing

Its not just a remote breather for that side of the valve is it? I don't have that connection on mine and not seen many dizzys like that.

Series 2/2a split doors on 86 nintey?

I will see what i can do. The door lock is special to this type of door. its almost exactly the same as the anti bust style lock on a series. Main difference between the two being this does not have the lift up on the inside of the door lock. The door catch is exactly the same as the one on...

Series 2/2a split doors on 86 nintey?

This was factory on this vehicle as it is a very early model with the split doors. I would suspect if you find someone selling ex MOD vehicles you will be able to get hold of the parts you need. I would think the standard series link would be the same.

    Halfshaft or CV joint?

sorry just had another read of your post. Jack it up and hold the drive shaft and one wheel. have someone turn the opposite wheel and see if it spins on its own or feels different to the rest. That way what ever wheel can turn free has the stuffed shaft/Joint

    Halfshaft or CV joint?

more likely to be a shaft than a cv. the cv will tell you long before it fails.

    need your help people

One other thing that might be worth checking is that the brake discs you have fitted match the caliper. There are some differences in rear calipers for disco's so it may mean the caliper is not sitting central on the brake disc. This would be fairly evident by how far the piston sits on one side...

    need your help people

correct me if im wrong but these are twin pot rears? not floating calipers. If so i would be checking that the pistons are not seized and second that you dont have an air pocket or blockage to your outside piston. Sometimes you can end up with a crystal type of substance in the brake system when...

    My 110 rebuild

Heres one recent photo of the engine almost finished. All that's left, is to finish off the exhaust, heater linkages and power steering. I will add a snorkel once all the diff done.

    My 110 rebuild

Hi there, Im in Auckland, up past Long Bay. You can have the sides and windows if you wish i am not going to use them anymore. The sides were the standard ones that came from South Africa and not a perfect height wise fit. They need to be spaced about 5mm. I should have more updates coming...
