Before you go to the trouble check all the earths around the alarm ecu and around the footwells, clean them up and grease/oil them. I've had the same trouble with mine in the past and this solved my problem Just seen how old this thread is.......probably no help by now

Although I use thin latex gloves to stop oil/grease getting on there in the first place but when I do get oily hands from lack-of or split gloves I work veg oil in and it reasonably emulsifies the oil enough to wipe off with kitchen roll..then wash hands with normal soap seems to work and...

Thanks everyone Ok, looks like it's short and maybe they ordered the wrong parts....well it's all welded up now so I'll borrow a mig and cobble something together. Just goes to show what can happen if you don't do it yourself.....barstewards!

Found some old photos of 'Pricilla' before she was sent off to be welded and I have a snealing suspicion the floor has been welded up short somehow....really weird
